Barking and Dagenham Children and Families Health Service The Barking and Dagenham Children and Families Health service delivers the Healthy Child Programme (HCP) in partnership with Barnardo's.

The HCP is a health care programme that is offered to families/carers with children from antenatal to 19 years of age. The health visiting team consist of Health Visitors who are qualified and trained to support children under 5 years and their families with early intervention, preventing and reducing ill health, public health awareness – child safety, immunisations, dental health, healthy eating

and healthy life style . The team consists of community nurses, community nursery nurses and support workers. The team works closely with the children centre staff. Services provided locally are from the antenatal period of 28 weeks of pregnancy to children who are aged under 5 years. The following health reviews are offered:
• Antenatal Visits (28 -32 weeks)
• New Birth Review
• 6-8 Week Health Reviews & support maternal emotional wellbeing
• 8-12 months Heath Review
• 2-2 ½ Years Health Review -
As well as supporting parents with:
• Parenthood and early weeks
• Breast Feeding and Infant Feeding
• Minor Illnesses and accident prevention
• Getting infants and young children ready for school – (behaviour, Speech, language and hearing)
• Healthy Weight for their children

The Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme is returning with a packed schedule of FREE* sessions for children and young people aged 5–16.

🧒👧 Open to all, with free places for those on benefit-related free school meals and affordable paid options for everyone else.

🎨⚽🎭 From sports and swimming to arts, drama, and outdoor adventures – there’s something for everyone!

The programme also includes SEND-inclusive sessions with tailored support.

- Drama and theatre sessions

Do you know what childcare support is available? 👀

Even if you think you do, keep reading, just in case.

From 15 and 30 hours childcare support for working parents, to Tax-Free Childcare and Universal Credit Childcare, there is a wide range of offers that parents may be eligible for 🤔

Parents with children aged two receiving additional forms of support, such as Universal Credit, can also get 15 hours early learning ℹ️

To use 15 or 30 hours childcare from Tuesday 1 April, you will need to apply by Monday 31 March ❗

Wraparound childcare for primary school aged children before and after school has also started to expand, with more places available across England. Eligible parents can use Tax-Free Childcare or Universal Credit Childcare to help pay for their place 💛
