A charity Quiz Night in aid of Sue’s House, organised by Trustee Tracey, and celebrating 40 years, was held at The Acorn in Barking on the 19th October.

There were lovely raffle prizes and some were kindly donated by The Acorn, as were the chocolate quiz prizes! Local Jeff Canton generously gave his Quiz Master services for free. A great time was had by all, including Sue’s House patients and volunteers.

Crucial money was raised to keep our small but vital charity running. Thank you to The Acorn for supporting and working with us, and highlighting our wonderful work in the community offering people with or have had cancer and their families, support, services and comfort.

Sue’s House Trustees, Suhaila (Chair), Tracey, Aqida and Simon, welcomed Cll Sheila Bain, mayor of Redbridge,to join them for our 40th year’s celebrations. Councillor Tanweer Khan joined us for the celebrations.

Promoting nutritious healthy eating, all of the food was freshly prepared by the team at Sue’s House for the celebration. The mayor, all the guests and patients appreciated the freshly prepared food. The delicious samosas and pakoras were donated by Mr Saeed who runs a local takeaway business.

Sue’s house provides much needed support and help for vulnerable cancer patients. It’s the only local charity offering, one to one counselling, acupuncture, reiki, chair yoga and information on healthy eating and nutrition by providing and demonstrating how to prepare fresh meals.

We were joined by Fairlop Lions charity, who so generously donated a permanent gazebo to Sue’s House.

Stephanie, one of our volunteers, raised a much needed £70 by selling hand decorated jars and bottles.
