So I get asked regularly what causes fungal nails.

Below is some information as to what causes them.

Unfortunately there is no quick fix to this and can take many months. However I can help with maintenance and start to work towards helping you achieve healthier nails with regular appointments and advise on the best treatments to use.

👣 Warm, moist environments

Fungal infections prefer warm, dark, and moist places like feet, and can spread easily in communal showers, locker rooms, and gyms.

👣 Footwear

Wearing shoes that make your feet hot and sweaty can increase your risk of developing a fungal nail infection.

👣 Skin-to-skin contact

You can get a fungal nail infection from skin-to-skin contact with someone who has a fungal infection

👣 Nail damage

Damaged nails are more likely to develop a fungal nail infection

👣 Health conditions

Certain health conditions, such as diabetes, psoriasis, or peripheral arterial disease, can increase your risk of developing a fungal nail infection.
