The lifestyle team organises activities, outings and events tailored to residents' needs and interests, and the home is also active in t

he close-knit community of Barnard Castle, taking part in local craft fairs as well as groups like the WI. Charles Dickens once stayed here and even mentioned it in ‘Nicholas Nickleby’. The hotel ballroom is now the residents’ lounge, and many bedrooms are generously sized too.

On Monday 28th July, we will be getting our main entrance resurfaced, and it will be closed off for everyone's safety. If you'd still like to visit, please ring the home once here 01833 690333, and someone will let you in using another door. Sorry for any inconvenience caused, but residents'( families and staff) safety is paramount.

Todays craft session was card making, and some of our ladies made some lovely cards, which are given to other residents or staff on their birthdays.

2 of our residents Jack and Norma enjoyed a trip into town for a cuppa, treat and chat ( that turned in to a sing song, and jingle bells was 1 of the songs).

Residents today enjoyed an afternoon of music performed by The Barnard Castle Brass Band, sadly true to British weather we had rain before (and during) the performance so we decided for residents to watch from the dining room windows. Afterwards, residents enjoyed an ice cream to celebrate National icecream day.

In preparation for our summer beach party ( Tuesday 26th August ) today residents made Jellyfish bunting.
Music from The Ukuleles at 2pm followed by the icecream van where every resident will be given the option of an icecream 🍦

Today residents enjoyed their move it or lose it exercise session with Simon who visits Kings Court care home twice a month.

Fingers crossed we have nice weather, so our residents and their family and friends can enjoy listening to the Barnard castle brass band this Sunday at 2pm.
Its maybe advisable to bring your own seating.

This afternoon our residents enjoyed a service delivered by Revd Alec Harding and sang hymns and had prayer.
One resident requested the old rugged cross, to which everyone sang along , which was quite emotional to hear.

Kings Court care home is in the centre of the attractive town of Barnard Castle in County Durham.

We provide specialist residential and respite care for older people, as well as a day club and a home meal delivery service. We take pride in delivering flexible, personalised and innovative care.

Residents are at the heart of everything we do. The activities we organise are tailored to their needs and interests, and we organise activities, outings and events that will appeal to them. We’re also active in the close-knit community of Barnard Castle and take part in local craft fairs as well as groups like the WI. We love the exclusive performance that the Barnard Castle Players - a local theatrical group – give us twice a year before their show opens at the theatre.
