“Just listen to your body” sounds great… until all your body wants is a dominos and a nap 😂

Truth is…your body doesn’t always want what aligns with your goals.

If fat loss is the goal, a bit of structure wins every time:
📊 Calories keep you accountable
🍗 Protein keeps you full
⚖️ Consistency gets results

You don’t have to track forever… but if you’ve ever said “I don’t eat that much” and still aren’t seeing progress….this might be why.

Track for awareness, not obsession ✌🏻

The fitness industry can make it look like the people coaching you have everything dialled in.

Perfect routines.
Perfect discipline.
Perfect motivation.

The truth is… most of us are figuring it out too.

I’ve struggled with motivation, binge eating, self-doubt, caffeine dependence, headaches, and feeling like I’m not doing enough…as a coach, a dad, and a business owner.

Some weeks I’m locked in.
Some weeks I’m just trying to show up.

But that’s the point.

Progress isn’t built by perfect people. It’s built by people who keep showing up even when things aren’t perfect.

If you’ve ever felt like you’re the only one struggling with consistency, motivation, or discipline… you’re not.

We’re all just doing our best.

Have you ever bought something because it felt like the first step towards becoming a better version of yourself?

A new diary.
A new notebook.
A new set of gym clothes.
A new water bottle.

You feel motivated… organised… ready to change your life.

But if you’re honest, that feeling often fades pretty quickly.

The other day Jodie (my fiancé) said something that got me thinking about this. She said she sometimes she’d buy a new diary because she wanted to become a more organised person… and just buying the diary gave her that little dopamine hit.

In that moment, she felt like the type of person who has their life together.

Psychologists call this mental simulation. Your brain rewards you just for taking a step towards the person you want to become.

The problem is… that feeling can sometimes trick us into thinking we’ve made more progress than we actually have.

Because the real change doesn’t come from buying the diary.

It comes from using it every day.

The same applies to fitness.

Messaging a coach.
Signing up to a gym.
Filling out an application form.

Those things feel good… but they’re only the start.

The people who get the best results are usually the ones who accept something most people avoid:

Progress is often a bit boring. And you have to actually keep turning up. Every day.

One thing I see all the time as a gym owner…

People who want to start.
People who want to get fitter, healthier and more confident.

But they don’t take that first step because they’re worried about being judged.

The truth is… people will judge you anyway.

They’ll judge you if you go out drinking.
They’ll judge you if you stay sober.
They’ll judge you if you chase big goals.
They’ll judge you if you play it safe.

So you might as well just live the life you actually want.

Because when you stop yourself out of fear of judgement…

you’re letting them win.
