Water Royd Water Royd Care Home specialises in Residential, Residential Dementia and Nursing care. The home has easy access to the M1.

Water Royd House is located in Gilroyd, a small village near to Barnsley town centre. Local shops, library, hairdressers, surgery, pharmacy, public house and post office are all closeby. Water Royd House provides accommodation for residents in single rooms with en-suite facilities. All rooms are fully carpeted and decorated to a high standard. Each room contains a television, nurse call system, fire detection, bed, and chest of drawers. The home has a well maintained garden and a secluded patio for residents to enjoy in summer months. Parking is available for up to 20 cars.

Please come along to our Dementia Support drop in sessions that will be held on Monday 16th March.

First session will run between 10am - 11:30am and our next session will be from 12:30pm-2pm.

All family and friends are welcome to come along for any support, questions they may have and advice.

Fab day today at Water Royd celebrating World Book Day 2026.

We had the pleasure of Amanda - Sing a long Days perform at Water Royd on Friday last week, she enjoyed herself that much she came back on Wednesday.

Everyone who lives at Water Royd really looks forward to Amanda performing, she's not just an amazing singer, she interacts with everyone in the room, and uses props and makes the best atmosphere.

Looking forward to seeing you again in a few weeks 🤗 thanks for the best afternoons!

We had a great day out yesterday visiting Locke Park with Myley Tours.

The early spring weather didn't disappoint either, it was perfect for having a stroll around the gardens admiring the surroundings and greenery, fairy garden and artist work. Afterwards we had refreshments at Locke Park Cafe and a good natter together.

A perfect spring day out full of More...Fresh Air.

The lovely Odele who lives at Water Royd had the best girls shopping trip with Lyn our Head housekeeper and Joe our Business Administrator. Odele wanted to freshen up her new room and pick her own interior accessories and colour scheme. Lyn and Joe went along with Odele to help her pick out her new accessories.

Our maintenance man Lee also did a brilliant job painting her room, mirror and upcycling her photo frames to all match, great job Lee.

Afterwards they went to Rob Farm shop and Odele bought her favourite dessert, a Manchester Tart.

Odele loves her new room and is really looking forward to having her grandchildren come to visit as her new room is much bigger.
As you can see they had the best time and Odele's room is now beautiful and fresh, incorporating greens, Odele's favourite colour

On Wednesday we visited Kelham Island Museum in Sheffield with Myley tours.

Kelham Island Museum is the story of making in the city, from master craftsmen to mass production. We saw how life and work was during the Industrial Revolution, followed the sights and sounds of progress through the Victorian era and the Women of Steel and learnt all about the River Don engine, which is the most powerful working steam engine in Europe. With a staggering 12,000 horsepower, it enabled the huge mill to roll steel plate up to 40cm thick and 50 tons in weight.

Derek, Chuck, Denise and Barbie had a great morning out and really enjoyed seeing all the wonderful history of Sheffield. It was a very wet and cold morning but we soon warmed up at the 'Joni Cafe' where we enjoyed a hot drink and dessert.

What a brilliant start to January we've had at Water Royd, enjoying our live singers, pamper sessions, gents club, Karaoke party's and so much more! Here's a few photos of what we've been getting up to.

We absolutely love music at Water Royd, may that be singing on the karaoke, enjoying our Water Royd Choir every Monday morning or singing and dancing along to the entertainment that we have each week. Music really does helps us to feel good, brings More...Socialising and a great way to get us all moving.
Fantastic to see family members joining in our karaoke sessions, please keep a look out for posters on our display boards advertising the next date and time for our karaoke party! 💙

Don't forget about our Gents Club that we hold every Thursday afternoon 2-4pm, its such a lovely atmosphere and we've had some great feedback, come along enjoy a game of pool, cards, dominos, darts, a good natter and a beer!

We had the pleasure of welcoming the wonderful children and staff from Keresforth Primary School at Christmas.

The children sang so beautifully, the people living at Water Royd adore having the children visit, they really do put huge smiles on all our faces. We look forward to welcoming them back at Easter!
