Molly - This morning I attended and held my first assembly at Barnsley Trinity Academy St Edward’s school. I delivered a PowerPoint presentation on cancer awareness suitable for school age children, it is so important that we teach children from a young age to know their bodies. I also chatted about HPV vaccinations and screenings which is fitting due to them being the right age to receive their HPV vaccinations in secondary school!

I thoroughly enjoyed and will be delivering this hopefully to lots more schools around Barnsley🙂

Today myself an Shareen have been to Avient in Dodworth for an hour talking about cancer screenings, signs and symptoms. We did a quiz and and informal presentation with chance for lots of discussions throughout. Many of them came to ask questions afterwards and this is what it’s all about… making cancer easier to talk about and spreading awareness!🩷💚💙

Some pictures from our amazing One Stop Cancer Shop event that took place last Friday in Goldthorpe. 24 cervical smears, over 200 fruit and veg packs and 169 hygiene packs given out, and each cancer service had over 50 conversations. Wow!! It was everything we expected and more, and we couldn’t have done it without the help of the Barnsley council Dearne area team, our lovely Nurse Terese and the volunteers! 🥹

Thank you to people who came and our next One Stop Cancer Shop is on Wednesday 16th July in Barnsley town centre outside Lightbox Library 9:30am until 3:30pm so please come along and promote this event for us 🫶🏼

The promotion poster for our next event will be out tomorrow!😊

So today me and Vanessa attended Avient (formally Magna Colours at Dodworth). We did a presentation, quiz and questions on all things cancer related sign and symptoms and screening awareness. It was attended by half the work force and the other half booked in for next week. Well done to David for organising who is featured in the be right campaign after a recent diagnosis and all clear with Prostate cancer himself. Lots of engagement ❤️
