What a lovely morning we had at the veterans together event at Shaw Lane Sports Club today. Bill went along to see some of his fellow veterans. We love how much you have accepted all of our veterans that reside at Deangate plus our staff into your group we feel very honoured.

There were some regular faces that we love to have a catch up with and have a natter with 😁. You know who you are 😉

It was a pleasure to talk with Cllr David Leech and Dan Jarvis MP. Thank you Anne Asquith for organising such a wonderful event. We can't wait to come to the next one.

For any veterans in Barnsley it is such a fabulous way of meeting like minded people. Have a natter a bacon buttie and make new friends.

We can't wait to see you all again soon 🫡

Thank you to everyone that came along to our summer fayre last week. 🥳

The sun was shining, the atmosphere was light and fun with an air of mischief 😉 😁.

Thank you to Touch of Class that came along to sell their amazing home fragrances.

All of the staff that were on and off shift that helped out. All of the friends and families of our residents that came along to volunteers. Along with our local community members that came along to help out, including the ladies from the Staincross Methodist church.

We can't thank you enough for everything you do to help out fabulous residents. Without you we couldn't do what we do for them.

Thank you Cllr David Leech for showing his support and coming along with his wife and family. Joe Hayward for coming along to show your support. We would like thank all of the wonderful veterans that came along to show your support to your fellow veterans that reside at Deangate.

The water and wine sold out as always withing 10 minutes 🤩 so watch this space for the next fayre! Closely followed by the tombola.

Rachael our activities coordinator got thoroughly soaked and messy thanks to everyone throwing pies and water at her to raise money for the residents. We don't know who enjoyed it more!

Were having a party!!!!! 🥳🥳

Well that's nothing new I hear you say... well this is a party with a difference.

After our most recent inspection we are so happy to share with you that we have achieved OUTSTANDING 🤩 so we are going to celebrate in style.

We would not have achieved this without everyone's help from the community, friends, families, professionals, Veterans, our amazing staff and obviously our wonderful residents.

We will have live music, buffet and much more.

If you can RSVP by the 6th of September to let us know if you can make it.

Today is a day for reflection and remembrance. Today marks the 80th anniversary of VJ day. We will take the time to remember those that sacrificed so much.

We have put some information together below to explain about VJ and the effects it had on the world 80 years ago and what hopefully it's still trying to achieve today.

VJ Day was a day of final relief and to give grateful recognition for the sacrifice of those who had served. We remember them, 80 years on.

We will be holding a 2 minute silence in line with the national 2 minutes silence at 12 noon.

Please take 2 minutes to think of those on this momentous day.

Our veterans talk about their experiences and how it shaped their careers in their respective posts.

We will remember them 🫡
