🎄✨ Barnsley FC Bring Festive Cheer to Barnsley Hospital! ✨🎄

This December, the Reds continued their proud tradition of visiting Barnsley Hospital to spread joy across the wards. All patients were surprised with thoughtful gifts – from tech treats to colouring books and selection boxes – all kindly sponsored by Burendo, whose generosity made the day possible.

The players took time to chat, laugh, and share moments with families, while also thanking the incredible hospital staff who work tirelessly over the festive period. Their dedication ensures care continues when many are at home celebrating, and the visit was a chance to show appreciation for their hard work.

Together, Barnsley FC, Burendo, and the hospital community proved that football is about more than the game, it’s about compassion, unity, and bringing joy when it matters most. 🎅🎄

Last year in England, flu caused around 8,000 deaths, while vaccination prevented an estimated 96,000 to 120,200 hospitalisations.

If you are vaccinated and catch flu this winter, you are likely to have milder symptoms and recover faster, cutting your risk of being hospitalised.

It is important to get protected, even if you have had a vaccine or been ill with flu before, as immunity fades over time and these viruses change each year.

Don’t put it off, book your flu vaccine appointment today and arm yourself against the risk of severe illness over the festive period.

💙 Proudly Recognising Hannah Ryan’s Cavell Award Success

We are delighted to share that Hannah has been honoured with this prestigious award. On behalf of the senior leadership team at Barnsley Hospital, and the colleagues she supports in our Emergency Department, we are incredibly proud.

From her beginnings as an apprentice to her role as Matron, Hannah has shown unwavering professionalism, compassion, and dedication. Even when faced with profound loss in her personal life and later serious health challenges requiring major surgery, she returned to the role she loves—caring for patients, mentoring staff, and leading with strength.

This recognition is a testament to Hannah’s resilience, her professionalism, and the inspiration she brings to everyone around her. 💙

Congratulations, Hannah—you truly embody the very best of nursing, and we are so proud to celebrate you.
