⭐ Feedback Friday ⭐

This week’s feedback highlights the impact of strong collaboration across services:

“Ambulance arrived within 20 minutes and excellent care from everyone in hospital from arriving in A&E, transfer to ward 33, transfer home and follow up care”.

This comment reflects the coordinated effort of multiple teams working seamlessly together — from the ambulance crew and A&E staff to Ward 33 and community services. Each handover, each interaction, and each stage of care contributed to a smooth and reassuring experience for the patient.

Feedback Friday

Today’s feedback is a wonderful reminder of the difference compassionate, person-centred care can make:

“From the receptionist… to the recovery nurse, everyone was so pleasant, reassuring and professional towards me. Everyone appeared to be working together around me”.

Experiences like this highlight how powerful kindness, teamwork and clear communication can be — especially when someone is going through uncertainty or worry. Thank you to our teams for creating an environment where people feel supported and cared for throughout their journey.

Your dedication to delivering thoughtful, compassionate care is truly appreciated.

🌟 Happy Admin Professionals Day! 🌟

Today we’re celebrating two fantastic members of our Learning and Organisational Development team — Abi and Joe, our brilliant Learning and Development Coordinators.

They job‑share their role and bring a combined 12 years of experience to the Trust.

Abi began her journey with us as an apprentice

Joe joined the Trust in Pharmacy before moving into L&OD

Together, they support colleagues across the organisation to grow, develop and deliver the best possible care for our patients. They also play a key role in coordinating our annual Proud to Care Conference, something they are incredibly proud of.

Thank you, Abi and Joe, for everything you do. Your hard work, positivity and commitment make a real difference every day 💙

We’re celebrating Admin Professionals Day, and among our administrators is Isabelle who works in Workforce Development and Student Support.

Isabelle is an administration apprentice. She joined the team in October 2025 and shows a strong commitment to learning, improvement, and delivering high quality support to both colleagues and students.

During recent periods of staff sickness, Isabelle stepped up without hesitation, taking on additional responsibilities and covering tasks outside her usual role. She approached this challenge positively, adapting quickly and ensuring the smooth running of the service.

Isabelle is the welcoming face of the department for visiting students. She consistently treats everyone with kindness, respect, and professionalism, putting students at ease and ensuring they feel supported and valued.

Isabelle aspires to continue her career within the NHS following the completion of her apprenticeship, and she already demonstrates the values, behaviours, and commitment expected of an outstanding NHS employee.

One of the fabulous teams supporting clinical teams in the hospital and other locations is our Patient Experience Team.

They love their role in the hospital and recognise patients and the public might not know much about what they do. Paige, Jane and Amy say:

“One of the most rewarding parts of our role is translating patient and carer experiences into meaningful service improvements. We are very proud of the way our team has been able to bring staff, patients and volunteers together to co‑design changes, improve environments, and celebrate positive practice across the Trust.”

Every day at Barnsley Hospital, outstanding care is made possible by colleagues whose work often happens behind the scenes.

Our administrative professionals play a vital role in helping care happen safely, smoothly and on time. By organising information, coordinating systems, supporting communication and keeping services connected, they help ensure patients and families receive the right care, in the right place, at the right time.

It goes to show how different roles contribute in different, but equally important, ways. By valuing every contribution, we continue to deliver the best possible care for the people of Barnsley and beyond.

Today on Administrative Professionals’ Day, we extend our heartfelt thanks to all our administrative colleagues. Your work matters – because it supports patient care, every single day.

💙 Feedback Friday 💙

Another brilliant piece of feedback that highlights the dedication, compassion, and professionalism of our teams across the board. We’re always grateful when patients take the time to share their experiences — it reminds us why every role, every shift, and every act of care matters.

“The staff from the theatre admissions to the theatre staff and ALL the staff on ward 36 were exemplary. Very caring. Very thorough”.

Comments like this reflect the hard work happening behind the scenes every single day. From the first point of contact to the moment a patient leaves our care, our teams work tirelessly to make every patient feel supported and cared for.
