Don’t ignore this if you want your training to keep improving.

If you’re lifting, running, doing MMA or kickboxing…

Tight muscles will catch up with you.

Hamstrings tighten.

Glutes switch off.

Hips stop moving properly.

Then something else starts compensating.

Usually your lower back or shoulders.

That’s when people come in saying

“it just suddenly went”

But it didn’t suddenly go.

It built up over weeks.

Sometimes all your body needs is the tension releasing so things can move properly again.

Are you staying on top of your body… or waiting until something goes?

Ever get out of bed and your back just says “nope”?

You swing your legs out.

Stand up.

And your lower back locks for a second.

You stretch it off.

Walk around a bit.

Eventually it settles.

Until the next morning.

Sound familiar?

Most of the time it isn’t just the lower back.

It’s tight hamstrings.

Glutes not firing properly.

Hips not moving the way they should.

Your lower back ends up doing the extra work.

Then it starts complaining.

How long has yours been doing that?

5 ways to tell your body is crying out for a sports massage.

Your neck feels stiff before the day has even started.

Your hamstrings feel like guitar strings when you bend down.

Your shoulders are creeping up around your ears without you noticing.

Your hips feel tight halfway through a run or workout.

Your lower back keeps “going” when you get up from sitting.

Sound familiar?

Most of the time it’s not one big injury.

It’s tension building up from work, training, driving, sitting… all of it stacking up.

A bit of maintenance at the right time can stop those small things turning into bigger problems.

How long has your body been feeling like that?

“One session should sort it.”

I wish.

But if something’s been building for months…

or years…

One hour won’t undo that.

We can release tension.

Improve mobility.

Reset the nervous system.

But rebuilding takes consistency.

Think of it like the gym.

You wouldn’t expect one squat session to fix weak glutes.

Same with this.

If you want quick relief, that’s fine.

If you want proper change, that’s different.

"I woke up this morning and my lower back didn’t give way.”

That was part of the review left after a first session yesterday.

They originally came in with what felt like a pinched nerve in the neck.

Pain through the traps.

Shoulders tight.

Neck not moving properly.

So that’s where we started.

But the body works as a chain.

So we also looked at the lower back and hips, because tension and restriction often feeds up or down the body.

One session in…

Neck pain gone.

Movement improved.

And this morning was the first time in a while their lower back didn’t give way when getting up.

Three more sessions already booked so we can keep things moving in the right direction.

Neck tight?

Shoulders constantly creeping up?

Lower back giving you grief?

Message "INFO" if you want to get it looked at properly.

The worst one isn’t the pain.

It’s the loss of confidence.

It’s not being able to squat depth anymore.

Or lift the kids without thinking about it.

Or sit comfortably on the sofa.

It’s second guessing every movement.

“Will that flare it up?”

That’s what eats at you.

When we release the adhesions and mobility comes back…

The first thing I see isn’t just less pain.

It’s the eyes.

The relief.

The “oh… I can move again.”

That shift.

If your body’s been holding you back lately…

what would it feel like to trust it again?

3 reasons you keep needing the same massage
You’re not strengthening what’s weak.

You’re training hard but not recovering properly.

You’re ignoring the boring stuff.

Mobility without strength doesn’t hold.

Strength without mobility restricts.

They work together.

I’ll loosen the adhesions.

I’ll get into the glutes, the piriformis, the SCMs, the tight lateral quad.

But if the homework doesn’t happen, we’re just maintaining.

Which is fine…

if that’s your goal.

Are you here for relief?

Or are you here to fix it properly?

Tell me which one you are 👇

I don’t switch off when I’m working.

When you’re on the table, I’m not just “doing a massage.”

I’m watching how your scapula sits.

I’m feeling if that lateral quad is rock hard.

I’m thinking, is that tight because the glutes aren’t firing?

Is that neck tight because the pec minor’s dragging you forward?

Even after you leave, I’m replaying it.

Could that be fatigue?

Is that weakness?

Do we need to strengthen that posterior chain more?

That’s just how my brain works.

Four weeks ago he walked in like this…

Shoulders up.

Neck guarded.

Couldn’t turn his head.

If he needed to look behind him?

He turned from his waist.

Neck just wouldn’t move.

We started working through it step by step.

Session by session.

Releasing what was locked up.

Restoring movement.

Getting the muscles doing their job again.

Last night was session four.

The last bit holding things back was deeper around the neck.

Right into the splenius capitis and splenius cervicis.

Working up between the shoulder blades and into the base of the skull.

That was the restriction.

This message came in the morning after.

“Range of motion is significantly better.”

Pain gone.

Full movement back.

Now the next step begins.

Strengthening.

Building the neck and upper back so it stays that way.

That’s the process.

Not a quick fix.

A proper plan.

If your neck feels locked, stiff, or you’re turning your whole body just to look over your shoulder…

Message "INFO" and we’ll take a look.

Desk workers… this one’s for you.

Neck stiff by 11am?

Shoulders rounded.

Chin forward.

Tight traps.

pulled forward.

Pec minor tight.

Hamstrings shortened from sitting.

You think you’re “just getting older.”

You’re not.

You’re just stuck in the same position every day
without maintenance.

How long are you planning on letting that posture run the show?

If you’ve ever felt fobbed off, this will help
Generic exercises.

“Just stretch it.”

“It’s muscular.”

Sound familiar?

Your body isn’t generic.

You’re not the same as the gas fitter working in tight spaces.

Or the MMA fighter loading his shoulder.

Or the 65 year-old who just wants to walk properly again.

I ask:

When does it start hurting?

What were you doing?

How long into the session?

What changed?

Because pain has a pattern.

And once we see the pattern, we can actually do something about it.

If you’ve lost faith in treatment before, what would need to happen for you to trust it again?

SPORTS MASSAGE OR DEEP TISSUE…

Which one do you actually need?

I get asked this all the time in Barnsley.

So let’s strip it back.

If you’re in the gym 4 to 5 days a week.
Doing MMA.
Kickboxing.
Rugby.
Gym life, body building, training for an event, or just generally keeping fit and strong.

Sports Massage is usually where we start.

Why?

Because we’re looking at how your body moves under load.

What’s tightening up.
What’s overworking.
What’s not switching on properly.
It’s not just pressure.

It’s assessment, movement, and keeping you performing.

We’re looking at:
– What muscles are overloaded
– Where range of motion has dropped
– What’s tightening up under fatigue
– What might turn into a strain if you ignore it
It’s performance based.

Pre-event.
During heavy training blocks.
Post fight.
Post match.
We free things off.
Restore movement.
Keep you training.

Now…

If you’re a desk worker.

Sat 8 to 10 hours a day.

Shoulders rounded.

Neck cranked forward.

Or you’re a roofer, joiner, decorator.

One sided loading.

Tool bag on the same shoulder.

Up ladders all day.

That’s where Deep Tissue often fits better.

We’re working through deeper layers.

Breaking down stubborn tension.

Addressing postural stress.

Chronic back tightness.

Glute pain from driving.

Neck and shoulder knots.

It’s less about sport specific movement.

More about undoing life.

But here’s the important bit…

It’s not always one or the other.

A lot of you are both.
Train hard.
Work hard.
Recover badly.

That’s when we assess properly and decide what your body actually needs.

If you’re not sure which one fits you…

Message me and tell me what you do day to day.
Let’s get you moving properly again.
