Runners… know that moment when the hips start tightening mid-run?

Everything feels fine at the start.

Then a few kilometres in…

One hip starts pulling.

Hamstring tightens.

Stride feels shorter.

You keep going anyway.

Most runners I see aren’t injured.

They’re just tight.

Glutes not switching on properly.

Hips losing a bit of rotation.

So other muscles start compensating.

And that’s when the aches begin.

At what point in your run do you start feeling it?

3 things I see all the time in desk workers.

Sitting all day changes how your body behaves.

I see it every week in the clinic.

Shoulders pulled forward.

Neck constantly tight.

Lower back stiff when you stand up.

It’s not that people are doing anything wrong.

It’s just the position your body sits in for hours.

Over time the muscles shorten and everything starts to feel locked up.

That’s when people say

“I feel fine until I get up”

If you sit most of the day, when was the last time you actually did something to loosen things off?

Shoulder pain stopping your training?

This is exactly what I see all the time.

Injuries that don’t just affect the gym…

they start creeping into everyday life as well.

Lifting.

Sleeping.

Even just getting comfortable.

Came in with shoulder pain that was affecting both training and day to day stuff.

We got to work on it.

Loosened what needed loosening.

Started getting things moving properly again.

And already feeling the difference.

That’s the thing…

It’s not just about “getting a massage”

It’s about actually finding what’s causing it and sorting it.

If your shoulder’s been nagging you for a while…

Don’t just push through it and hope it goes.

Message “INFO” and I’ll point you in the right direction 👍

“Sports massage is going to be painful.”

People expect torture.

Elbows.

Grinding.

Trying not to swear on the table.

That’s not how it works.

Yes, sometimes we work into tight tissue.

But the goal isn’t to fight your body.

If your body is tensing up, it won’t release properly.

Pressure gets adjusted.

Techniques change.

The aim is to restore movement, not see how much pain you can tolerate.

Worried it’s going to hurt more than it helps?

People only see the hour on the table.

They don’t see the 12 hour days.

The cleaning after every client.

The thinking that goes into each treatment plan.

The studying.

The graft behind the scenes.

And that’s fine.

I chose this.

But if you’ve ever run your own thing…

you’ll know it’s not just “doing massages”.

Saying that…

This is why I care so much when someone walks in stiff, in pain, or not moving properly.

Because I know what it’s like to be tired, busy, and still have to show up.

If your body’s starting to feel it…

Don’t leave it until it stops you.

Message “INFO” and I’ll point you in the right direction 👍

Desk workers… this one’s for you

Eight hours sat down.

Shoulders creeping forward.

Neck slowly tightening.

By the end of the day you’re rubbing the base of your skull or rolling your shoulders.

Then you get up.

And the lower back joins in as well.

It’s not because you’ve done something wrong.

It’s just what happens when the body sits in one position for too long.

Muscles shorten.

Other muscles overwork.

And everything starts to feel locked up.

How does your neck feel by the end of the day?

If you’ve ever struggled with a tight lower back this will help.

A lot of people think their lower back is the problem.

Most of the time it’s not.

It’s usually coming from somewhere else.

Tight hamstrings.

Glutes not firing properly.

Hips not rotating the way they should.

Your lower back just ends up doing the extra work.

That’s why I don’t just work where the pain is.

I look at what’s feeding into it.

Sometimes freeing up the hips or glutes is what finally settles the back down.

Ever noticed your back flares up after sitting or driving for a while?

“I’ll wait until it gets worse.”

A lot of people do this.

The body starts whispering first.

Stiff neck in the morning.

Hamstrings tightening during a run.

Lower back feeling a bit dodgy when you stand up.

But we carry on.

Work.

Gym.

Life.

Then one day something finally says “that’s enough”.

That’s when people end up messaging me.

Most of the time the problem didn’t appear overnight.

It built up.

Maintenance is a lot easier than repair.

Is your body whispering or shouting right now?

Most people don’t realise how much their body affects everything.

Until it starts going wrong.

Long hours.

Stress.

Being constantly on the go.

Still having responsibilities when you get home.

And then your body starts tightening up.

Neck stiff.

Back locked.

Everything just feels harder than it should.

Walking the dog feels harder.

Training feels harder.

Even just getting through the day feels heavier.

I get it.

Because I’ve been there myself.

That’s why I care when someone walks in with a stiff neck or a locked up back.

It’s not just about the pain.

It’s about everything that comes with it.

When your body starts moving properly again…

Life feels lighter.

If you’ve been putting up with it, don’t.

Message "INFO" and we’ll get you sorted.

“I’ll just stretch it at home.”

Fair.

Stretching helps.

But if a muscle has built up adhesions and feels like rock, stretching alone won’t always touch it.

I see this a lot.

People stretching their hamstrings every day…

But the tension is actually coming from the glutes or hips not moving properly.

So the hamstrings keep tightening again.

You stretch.

It loosens for a bit.

Then it comes straight back.

That’s when hands-on work helps break that cycle.

Then the stretching actually holds.

Been stretching something for weeks and it keeps coming back?

"It felt like my head was too heavy for my neck…”

That’s how they described it when they first came in.

Upper back tight.

Neck constantly aching.

Shoulders carrying tension for months.

That heavy, dragging feeling that just doesn’t shift.

Two sessions in…

“Upper back and neck feel amazing.”

That constant weight across the shoulders?

Gone.

This is what I see a lot in the clinic here in Barnsley.

It’s not always one big injury.

It’s build up.

Tight traps.

Restricted upper back.

Neck doing more work than it should.

Everything starts stacking up.

We worked through the upper back.

Released the tension around the traps and shoulder blades.

Got things moving properly again.

And that’s when it starts to ease off.

Still work to do.

But now we’re moving in the right direction.

If your neck feels like it’s constantly carrying weight…

Or your shoulders never seem to switch off…

Message "INFO" and we’ll get you booked in.

Don’t ignore this if you want your training to keep improving.

If you’re lifting, running, doing MMA or kickboxing…

Tight muscles will catch up with you.

Hamstrings tighten.

Glutes switch off.

Hips stop moving properly.

Then something else starts compensating.

Usually your lower back or shoulders.

That’s when people come in saying

“it just suddenly went”

But it didn’t suddenly go.

It built up over weeks.

Sometimes all your body needs is the tension releasing so things can move properly again.

Are you staying on top of your body… or waiting until something goes?
