Rest isn’t something we earn… it’s something we need.
Taking time to slow down, step away from routine, and truly switch off allows the body and mind to reset in ways we often don’t realise we’ve been needing. It supports our nervous system, restores our energy, and helps us come back feeling clearer and more connected.

In a world that encourages us to keep going, choosing to rest can feel unfamiliar - but it’s just as important as movement, strength and showing up. It’s part of the process, not a pause from it.

As we move through midlife, strength is important… but muscle power becomes just as essential. Power is what helps you react quickly, stay steady, prevent falls and feel capable in everyday movement🧘‍♀️🧚‍♂️🫶🏼

The surprising part is that power declines faster than strength, especially for women - which is why it deserves more attention in our training. The good news is that you don’t need high-impact workouts to improve it! Pilates builds power through controlled, intentional movement that supports your joints, hormones and confidence✨

This week’s focus: Diaphragm Breathing🧘‍♀️🌬️

Diaphragm breathing offers a huge variety of benefits, including enhanced core muscle activation and stability, improved oxygen flow and reduced stress and tension🪷

When breathing from the diaphragm you are able to create a deeper connection to your parasympathetic nervous system aka the rest and digest state.

As mentioned above, diaphragm breathing activates the deep core muscles - this in turn promotes proper spinal alignment. This reduces the risk of strain and provides a strong foundation for movement✨
