The biggest apology from me to everyone who follows this page and helps support my business. My lack of posts and communication has been due to being super poorly since the start of the new year. I have reached a bit of a burnout both physically and mentally and needed a break from social media. It is important to remember no matter who you are or what you do, you can have bad days too. The reason I’ve avoided socials more is I know that everyone posts their best bits and not always the struggles but is is still hard to see everyone doing what they do whilst I’m struggling to get out of bed and work! I will bounce back from this and hopefully have some answers soon but as always thanks for the love and support. I will be back to taking enquiries next week. Love always, Paige ♥️

I’d like to take the time to say thank you to everyone who has supported me and my small business so far. It was a busy last month of the year bringing home the newest team member of Olympus athletic… Maple. I am opening up my books for the new year and would love to help support you with your 2024 goals. It can be a hard time at the start of a new year thinking about setting yourself New Year’s resolutions or targets for the year. It can be overwhelming to put such a heavy weight on your shoulders to achieve something so quickly but just because we have bought in a new year doesn’t mean that should be a reason for setting goals. These things can be accomplished at any point throughout 2024 and I’m here to help. Do not feel as though you are missing out if you don’t have something to work towards and you don’t have to set yourself something huge. It could be as simple as waking up half an hour earlier every morning, going on a walk every day or even just doing one thing to support your mental wellbeing and mindfulness each day. ✨IDENTITY✨

Some athletes can struggle with their identity and figuring out who they are. This can be due to forced retirement or it could come out of nowhere, there are so many reasons. It can be difficult to know who you are without your sport or what you do when you aren’t in your specific sport. That is totally normal… everyone can experience a loss or change in identity at some point. This can be outside of sport too. If you are experience a change in lifestyle or emotion it can cause you to feel lost and not like your ‘usual’ self. You can withdraw from your normal life as well as friends, family and teammates causing a period of isolation, whether that be short term or for a prolonged period.

It may seem like a dark time where you don’t express how you feel and have a sense of anger or resentment towards yourself for feeling that way, or even guilty for not enjoying the things you usually do. As well as this you may feel anger towards your sport for causing you to feel this way or feeling anger towards yourself for feeling the way you do and distancing yourself from your sport. You should NEVER feel any guilt for taking time away. There is always a way to gain your identity back and your sport does not define you as a person. There is always a way to learn to love your sport without it being your entire identity and finding a life outside of sport.

✨CELEBRATION✨

Sometimes when we are feeling out of sorts it can be difficult to feel as though we can celebrate. If we are suffering from low mood we can sometimes feel as if we don’t ‘deserve’ to feel happy or celebrate our success’. However, this is not the case we should always celebrate our achievements whether that be something big such as a graduation or even just getting up in the morning and brushing our teeth.

Never feel as though you are not worthy of the happiness or other people celebrating you! I felt very much like this myself with my graduation this week but reflecting makes us realise we work hard no matter what we face. Enjoy the little things and surround yourself with people who love and support you🫶🏻

As an athlete especially injury can range from a week out to potentially being career ending. This is something I have experienced myself and can safely say is a horrible feeling. Not only do you lose a sense of identity as an athlete but you miss the social interactions and stress relief that sport can provide. Sport to many is an escape from reality and a chance to focus the mind on something other than the trials and tribulations of every day life.

Routine with sport creates a more focused approach and helps ease anxieties, especially in children, by knowing when training is allowing everything to be focussed around it: such as eating and sleeping. Without this routine, chaos can ensue and things such as our hormones, endorphins and emotions can become out of balance. Anxiety, depression, eating behaviours and so much more can be influenced by this and it is totally normal. Injury is the worst thing to happen to an athlete especially if it is career ending and navigating life through it is no easy feat.

Know there is always life after sport and life throughout and after injury. Whether you decide to take up a new hobby, sport or decide to return to sport I am there to help you weather the storm. Get in touch today to book a session and talk about whatever you need to get off your chest 🫶🏻

✨DISORDERED EATING BEHAVIOURS✨

Around 3.4 million people in the UK are affected by eating disorders with 25% of those people being male. The stigmas around eating disorders is that you have to be skinny and restrict your food intake but eating disorders come in many ways and don’t discriminate against who they affect.

My entire dissertation was dedicated to how disordered eating behaviours affect people and especially those within sport. It is something I have personally experienced and have a wealth of knowledge on and wish to help others with. There is always a way for an individual to overcome these eating behaviours and although recovery is never linear it is so possible.

No matter your age or gender it is something you can struggle with and I am determined to help as many people as I can. Most of the time people don’t realise they have a negative relationship with food and it is used as a coping mechanism to gain control so it goes unnoticed. Don’t be afraid to reach out as my inbox is always open.

✨DEPRESSION✨

So many people say the phrase “I feel depressed” but do we understand what it actually means? Depression can be low mood but can also manifest itself in change in eating behaviour, loss of motivation, suicidal thoughts, withdrawal from social situations, quitting sport and many more. It is important to understand where this all comes from to get to the root of the problem: is it a relationship breakdown, grief, a major life change, loss of love for sport, not reaching the results you want to at competitions or is it something you can’t quite put your finger on?

Most doctors will prescribe anti-depressants and offer a waiting list for someone to talk to but, these medications don’t work for everyone and wait lists can be YEARS long. With the high demand for mental health services people who feel depressed can be left too long and unfortunately, never get to seek the help they desperately need.

It is my mission to make sure every voice gets heard and I can help as many people as I can. I offer both half an hour and hour 1:1 sessions for all ages as a safe space to speak to me about how they feel. This can be both sport and non related sport queries.

Anxiety is something over 8 million people at one time experience. It can manifest itself in many forms both physical and mental: shakes, sleepless nights, restricting food intake, nausea, withdrawal and many more. Sometimes we suffer from anxious behaviours and don’t even realise that we are. This could come from: returning to sport after an extended period away, injury, competition etc.

Anxiety is something that can overcome an individual but it doesn’t have to. Do you think you suffer from anxiety and want to make a change? I can help you. Talking through how you feel shouldn’t be intimidating and even if you don’t understand it yourself, that shouldn’t mean you hide it. Anxiety is something you should never be ashamed of, or try to downplay it as “nervousness”.
