Dude's Mum Kerrie describes the day Dude got his diagnosis:

"Appointments blurred into one another. Tests. Waiting rooms. That awful stretch of time where you’re suspended between hope and dread. And then the day everything split into ‘before’ and ‘after’. I remember nodding as the doctor spoke, like I understood. Like my heart wasn’t shattering into a thousand pieces inside my body. I remember thinking ‘This can’t be our story. He’s only a child.' I remember walking out of that room knowing I would never be the same woman again."

If Kerrie's words sound familiar to your experience receiving your child's diagnosis, feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments below. 💚

Our recent Teenage Weekend was extra special, we welcomed younger teens and for most it was their 1st experience of a teenage weekend.👏

The fun was kicked off with ice‑breakers and takeaway‑style meals that the teens loved 🍔 And then back by popular demand were the brilliant Samba Baia, bringing plenty of energy.

Saturday included a supervised gaming session, a visit from Bunnies on Bikes - Bideford Bike Show - delivering Easter eggs, and a beautifully decorated Wild West–themed tea.

Sunday saw the weekend highlight, laser tag! With lots of enthusiasm, friendly competition and laughter from both teens and Care Team. Families then joined for Sunday roast and bingo, while parents took part in a session about transitioning into adult services.

Thank you to everyone who helped make it such a wonderful weekend for the young people supported by CHSW 💚

We loved spending time with our amazing siblings at Little Bridge House recently 🤗

As soon as they arrived, it was straight into the fun, getting hands-on with messy play, creating spoon characters, making colourful beach pictures and enjoying some face painting. 🎨🖌️

Moments like these give siblings space to just be themselves, surrounded by care and understanding 💚

As part of National Sibling Day, we are pleased to introduce Helen and Sarah from Charlton Farm, who share a short insight into their daily roles within the Sibling Support Team. 💚

Sibling support is a vital part of children’s hospice care, helping brothers and sisters feel heard, supported and understood. Our hospices provide a safe space to share their feelings, connect with others and build resilience during challenging times.
