I offer sessions in story massage: a practice which is a fun and creative way to increase general well being, improve concentration and self awareness and encourage relaxation in children. There are 10 basic strokes generally used on the back or arms, fully clothed, but can be adapted for hands, feet, legs and face as appropriate for the child's needs. Favourite stories can be adapted to include story massage and it can aid learning. School sessions are available as well as class sessions and 1 on 1 sessions. Baby massage is a practice which dates back 3000 years, it promotes bonding & attachment between baby and parent/care giver. Loving, nurturing touch stimulates the production of oxytocin which has both a calming and pain relieving effect. Massage lowers stress and can help babies to sleep more deeply, it also stimulates the immune system and can aid digestion as well as relieving the effects of colic, teething and constipation and wind. Baby yoga - it's fun! It involves the parent or care giver learning a series of stretches, poses and moves which will enhance babies physiological and psychological development and deepen the bond between infant and parent or primary care giver. It is an interactive routine, the movements include gentle stretching of limbs and correct breathing by encouraging the baby to imitate their primary care givers breathing pattern. Yoga can help babies become aware of their own bodies, it also aids in strengthening the spine, improving muscle condition, it imparts flexibility of joints, improves oxygen intake, helps balance and improves organ function! Yoga is beneficial to the growth and development of babies.
