DIRECT CREMATION has become increasingly popular, largely due to the multi-million pound advertising campaign we're seeing all over our TV screens from a particular company, but also down to it's affordability and fuss-free nature.

On a recent trip to see the progress of the Rotary Gardens Pond project in Pilton, it was fantastic to see all the hard work of volunteers from the Pilton & Bradiford Community Gardens group, has given the pond area of new lease of life. Wildlife in thrieving, biodiversity on the up, and the flowers offering some colour to the area. Well done to all who have worked so hard to make all this growth and development happen.

It has been really great to see the rejuvenation of the Rotary Gardens pond area. We are pleased to be supporting this project with the Pilton & Bradiford Community Gardens team, giving back to create a wonderful space in the community, for the community.

This is an ongoing project, the next working party is on Sunday 9th March.

Our Christmas tree is up at Barnstaple Parish Church of St Peter and St Mary Magdalene for their Christmas Tree Festival happening between 12th & 16th December. The church is full of wonderful trees, provided by various charities, groups and businesses from within our community.

Live Stream Scams

We have been made aware of a live stream scam in relation to a funeral that has been arranged in North Devon.
It is utterly appalling that someone would find it appropriate to take advantage of those who are bereaved. However, it is a sad reality in our modern digital world, and we need to be aware of it.

The scam pages are generally set up on facebook, using photo of the person, who then makes friend requests. At which point they will offer you the opportunity to watch the service online, for a fee.

Official live streams are completely free to the viewer. The link will either be shared directly from a family member, by a means you already know and trust, or via the funeral director. You won't be asked for any personal information, or payment.

All services at the North Devon Crematorium will use Obitus as the live stream provider and the web address will start with https://watch.obitus.com/
If the service is a church and a live stream has been arranged then the link will be to a YouTube channel for UK Funeral Live Streaming and Video on this page https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCSQjsOf0SG783L3JHaPQXdQ
