Did you know your menstrual cycle is more than just your period? Your hormones rise and fall throughout the month, shaping your energy, appetite, mood, and even how your body responds to exercise.

Here’s the flow:
🔹 Menstrual phase – appetite may rise for comfort foods, best to focus on gentle movement.
🔹 Follicular phase – appetite steady, body primed for strength training - great time to push yourself.
🔹 Ovulatory phase – appetite may dip slightly, energy is high - ideal for high-intensity workouts.
🔹 Luteal phase – cravings and hunger increase, best to mix strength training early in the phase with lighter movement (pilates, walking) as your energy tapers.

When you learn to align your food, training, and self-care with these natural shifts, you stop fighting against your body and start moving with it.

It’s not the big, drastic changes that transform your health — it’s the simple, consistent habits you repeat every day. Here’s how to create routines that support your energy, recovery, and mindset:

☀️ Morning Routine
Start strong with a high-protein breakfast to keep blood sugar stable and energy steady. Pair it with a big glass of water to rehydrate after sleep, and some gentle movement (stretching, a walk, or a workout) to wake up body + mind.

🌤️ Afternoon Routine
A nutritious lunch full of protein, fibre, and healthy fats will help you avoid the afternoon slump. A short walk after eating aids digestion and clears the head. And if you’re reaching for another coffee… pause. Limiting caffeine in the afternoon helps your body wind down for better sleep.

🌙 Evening Routine
Keep dinner lighter and nourishing to avoid disrupting your rest. Swap late-night scrolling for a book to calm your mind, and consider magnesium (through foods or supplements) to support muscle recovery and deeper sleep.
