Honestly there is SO MUCH sharpening equipment that I want. But beyond what I have here are some rough prices...

Tormek T8 - £800
Flat hone for beauty shears - £3000
Clipper blade sharpener - £3000 - £6000
Slow speed bench grinder - not available in UK
Professional belt grinder - £2500
Sharpness rating machine - £400
Chainsaw sharpener - £1000
Professional training with these machines - £2000

A workshop to house all of this... A lot...

I would LOVE to make this a full blown business but not only am I not rich enough...also no one wants it done like the old days so I end up just sharpening a few knives a month...

I want to make it absolutely clear that I am fine with this though. I have my day job that is well paid and I have everything I need... I'm just weird in a way that making things sharp is a weird passion of mine... Don't know why... Just is.

I STILL GOT IT!!!

Using whetstones freehand took me years to learn but that's because I didn't really know what I was doing.

If I was to teach someone how to do it, I recon they'd get it in months... Maybe weeks... Because they wouldn't be making the same mistakes I did.

I get some customers who tell me that they are ashamed of the condition of their knives and how they use them...

DON'T BE!

In my eyes cooking is an art form and to make the best art you need to express yourself and sometimes things get damaged in the process... It's just part of it...

You also REALLY shouldn't be ashamed when you bring them to me because the entire reason I started doing this as a service is because... I ENJOY IT! Give me a challenge sometimes, something to think about and like the video below, we can work something out. No matter the damage.

But yes I love doing this so thank you to all of my customers for enabling it.

Top tip! After you're done using your axe, garden tools or lawnmowers, spray the blade with some WD-40 (or similar oil) to prevent it from rusting!
