Ligaments and tendons are both types of connective tissue, but they serve different functions in the body:

Ligaments: Connect bone to bone and provide stability to joints. They are tough, slightly elastic structures that help prevent excessive movement that could cause injury.

Tendons: Connect muscle to bone and help transmit force from muscles to move the bones. They are strong and more elastic than ligaments, allowing for movement and flexibility.

Muscles work in pairs, a concept known as antagonistic muscle pairs. This means that while one muscle contracts, the other relaxes to produce movement.

For example:

Biceps and Triceps (Arm): When you bend your arm, the biceps contract while the triceps relax. When you straighten your arm, the triceps contract and the biceps relax.

Quadriceps and Hamstrings (Leg): When you straighten your leg, the quadriceps contract and the hamstrings relax. When you bend your leg, the opposite happens.

This system allows for smooth and controlled movement.

Acupuncture and acupressure are both traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) techniques that stimulate specific points on the body to promote healing and relieve pain. However, they differ in how they are applied.

Acupuncture vs. Acupressure

Which One Should You Choose?

If you’re afraid of needles, acupressure is a great alternative.

If you need deeper stimulation, acupuncture may provide better results, especially for chronic pain or nerve-related issues.

Both can complement each other and are often used together in TCM.
