Hi everyone,
Just a quick message to say as of Thursday 13th February, this page will not be monitored for a while as I am leaving my role as programme coordinator for Furness College (DFN Project SEARCH FGH). We are not the most technical bunch, but we are trying to have ownership of our social media pages changed to allow for a smooth transition. We are hoping everything will be back up and running soon!

It’s been a wonderful 3 years and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our lovely interns, families and of course our fantastic managers & mentors who have gone above and beyond to support us in ensuring our programme was a success. It has been a pleasure to support such wonderful interns and a true privilege to be apart of your unique journeys.

As of Thursday, my email address (Kiera.turner@furness.ac.uk) will not be monitored. For any day to day queries, please contact Deborah on her usual email address. For any matters relating to college, please email Nicola Newton (Nicola.newton@furness.ac.uk)

We aim to make this transition as smooth as possible and will keep you updated of any changes.

Thank you,
Kiera

A great afternoon catching up with programme graduate, Will 🦠 Some of you may remember Will began studying as a Trainee Nurse Associate Apprentice. Can you believe he will be graduating this year?! In a full circle moment, Will’s final placement within FGH is where he did his first rotation with us in Same Day Emergency Care.
In September, Will is going to start his top-up degree to become a registered nurse 🧑🏼‍⚕️

Will is currently writing a research paper on how untreated type 2 diabetes can lead to dementia and recently passed his pharmacology exam meaning his is able to administer medication.

Always a pleasure to catch up with a graduate, Will has gone from strength to strength and we are so proud of everything you have achieved.

It’s been a busy day for Conner! This morning, Conner met with Rebecca from Lakeside Hotel to discuss possible roles available within the hotel. This afternoon, Conner attended a recruitment event at Crofters🍺 Conner has a keen interest in hospitality and is looking for a career in this industry that will keep him busy and give opportunities for development. Well done Conner, time to relax now!

Programme graduate Henry has been working in the catering department here at FGH for several months and is a fully integrated member of the team 🧑🏻‍🍳 Henry completed two rotations within the department so when a job became available in the department, it was a no brainer for Tracy (department manager). Henry has made fantastic progress in his role and is ready to be pushed to the next level, undertaking more tasks and developing his skills further. Well done Henry 🍳

It’s not often I’m left speechless 😶 Today, myself and Deborah caught up with Tracy Litt (catering manager) to discuss the interns working within her department. Tracy could not sing their praises enough! Abbie and Conner are the new dream team ⭐️ They both get on with their work without waiting for instructions from their colleagues and each bring their own strengths to the team. Conner has been tasked with collecting all the meal wagons from one of the hospital floors, completely independently! In Tracy’s words, they have been absolutely amazing and have blown it out of the water🥹 well done guys, you’ve done us proud!

Linda hosts drop-in sessions every Friday 1:30-4:30 @ Careers Hub, Portland Walk if anyone is interested. All information is on the attached poster.

Huge thanks to Linda for making the time to see us today 🦋 Autus Cumbria
