Please find below details of a new urgent care service



We are introducing an urgent care service to help increase capacity within the surgery to see patients. This currently operates Tuesday- Friday during normal surgery hours. The appointments will be available face to face with a GP and are booked the same way as regular appointments via our surgery reception team.

Currently the location the service operates from is Norwood Medical Centre – 99 abbey Road, Barrow-in-Furness LA14 1LF

Once you have been given an appointment attend Norwood Medical Centre and check in at their front desk as you enter the building.

The GP will have access to your normal GP notes and consultations will be documented in your normal GP Record.

📢 Important Information, Patients on HRT or Contraceptive Pills & Taking Mounjaro 💉💊

We’d like to share an important update from the British Menopause Society that may affect some of our patients.

➡️ If you're on HRT and take a progesterone tablet, please note:
Mounjaro (tirzepatide) injections may reduce the absorption of oral progesterone, especially when:
• Starting the injection
• Increasing the dose

⚠️ This could lead to unexpected bleeding or thickening of the womb lining.
👉 To stay safe, you may need a higher dose of progesterone for 4 weeks after starting or increasing Mounjaro.

➡️ If you’re on the contraceptive pill, Mounjaro may also affect its effectiveness.
🛑 It’s recommended to use an additional barrier method (e.g. condoms) for 4 weeks after starting or changing your dose.

We’re currently reviewing and advising patients who may be affected. However, we aren’t always notified if patients are accessing Mounjaro privately or online.
