Amanda Cherry

Aged 48, of Barrow-in-Furness, passed away suddenly on the 10th April 2026. Devoted mother to Leah and Halle, a loving nanny to Blake, precious daughter of Christine, the late Alan and Step-dad Lawrance, beloved sister to Sara, Cheryl, Marilyn, Leanne, Tanya, Colin, Ryan and a cherished aunty. A service to celebrate Amanda’s life will take place at 11am on Thursday 7th May at Abbey Mount Funeral Chapel, followed by a reception at Barrow Golf Club, to which all family and friends are warmly invited. 🌟🧶👩‍🎨 CHARITY CRAFT FAIR 👩‍🎨🧶🌟

On Saturday 13th June we will be holding our very first charity fundraising day at our very own Abbey Mount Funeral Chapel.

Between 12pm - 3pm you will be able to come along and see what some very talented, local, small businesses have created and have on offer!

Not only this, there will be refreshments and a raffle to with some fantastic prizes on offer donated by some very generous local businesses! All proceeds raised will go towards the fantastic and vital work of St Mary’s Hospice in Ulverston!

A list of all the businesses attending and all those who will be supporting the event in other ways will be provided once all the final details have been confirmed!

Passed away peacefully at Royal Lancaster Infirmary on 25th March aged 79 years. Beloved wife of the late Denis, much loved sister of Elizabeth, Veronica, Jane and Helen and a dear sister-in-law and aunt and a good friend to many. Funeral service will take place at St. Margaret’s Roman Catholic Church, Dalton-in-Furness on Friday 17th April at 12pm followed by interment at Dalton Cemetery. Family flowers only please. It is with great sadness that we announce that Stanley Fleet passed away peacefully on 26th January with loving family around him. Stanley will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all who knew him.

Retired Butcher at Irvings of Ulverston

Passed away peacefully at home, after a short illness on Wednesday 19th November, aged 66 years, surrounded by his loving family. Much loved and treasured husband of Alison. Adored father of Kerry, Natalie and Sophie. Cherished father-in-law to Jack and Mark. A proud Grandad to Seth, Erin and Harry. A dear brother, brother- in-law, uncle and good friend to many, who will be so sadly missed.

Funeral service will take place at Ulverston Parish Church on Thursday 4th December at 12:00 noon. Refreshments to follow at Ulverston Sports Club, Priory Road. Family flowers only please. Today we proudly opened our new home, Abbey Mount Funeral Chapel.

Following an extensive refurbishment inside and out, we are now able to offer our families a calming and convenient setting to not only arrange a funeral for a loved one but also hold the service itself.

Whilst continuing to conduct funerals at churches and crematorium chapels throughout South Cumbria, we can now also provide an in house alternative.

Our 75 seater chapel offers a private and tranquil setting to say a personal farewell. We have installed state of the art audio and visual technology to enhance the services we can offer families.

Onsite, free car parking is available and after service refreshments can also be accommodated within our spacious setting.
