WorkWell staff were over at Burnett Edgar medical practice on Walney island this morning.

We met with surgery staff and talked about WorkWell and how to refer.

We also spent time in the peaceful surroundings of the community garden, run by the social prescribing team, that we will likely refer WorkWell participants to that would like to start volunteering on their journey to work.

What a fabulous initiative for the community! 🪴

* WorkWell is a light touch support service, for approximately 12 weeks, for people 18+, with health (physical and / or mental) problems or neurodiversity, that impact their ability to get work, stay at work or return to work. *

🚨 WorkWell weekly roundup 🚨

On Monday we were at our partner base Barrow Park Leisure Centre for drop ins. This is a usual base for us on a Monday.

On Tuesday we were at the Bridge on Portland Walk for drop ins, where we are based every Tuesday.

On Wednesday we attended a drop in session at Women's Community Matters. We are returning there later this month for the Chinwaggers group. 🗣️

Thursday we supported a participant to attend our partner service BEATS (Barrow exercise and therapy service) at Barrow Park Leisure centre. 💪🏻 BEATS is an exercise programme exclusive for our WorkWell participants, struggling with issues such as musculoskeletal pain, inactivity or mental health.

We also popped by the women’s social group at Walney Community Trust at Spring Mount Hall later in the day.

On we were at our other partner Mind in Furness for the usual morning drop in session.

Workwell participants can exclusively access the Mind guided self help support, with CBT techniques on how to manage many issues including anxiety and depression, low self esteem, stress, anger, and menopause.

And yesterday (Saturday) we had the first drop in session at Barrow Park Leisure Centre, making our service more accessible to those who may struggle to come to see us on a weekday.

A 12-week Healthwise review, by Healthwise Facilitator, Simon ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

"Before Sally started on Healthwise, she struggled to leave her house. She needed care support daily and her mental and physical health suffered as a result.

Sally has regularly attended Functional Fitness classes and her improvements have been significant. Due to the social aspect of the class, Sally's mental health has improved a lot as she is now able to leave the house and meet other people. She is able to dress herself again as well as cook her own meals. Sally can also get in and out of vehicles again, which enables her to go shopping and is in less pain, therefore her sleep quality has improved as well. She is looking forward to the future."

If you, or someone you know, has a long term medical condition and would like a quality, caring and friendly member of our team to start your personalised physical activity journey to better health, get in touch!

A few days late, but here's the WorkWell calendar for July! 🌞

We know that some people in need of our service may struggle to get to somewhere where they can see us during the week, due to work or other commitments, so we're excited to be offering a drop in session at our partner Barrow Park Leisure Centre this coming Saturday 12th July from 9am-midday, where you can come in and ask anything you need to know about WorkWell 🙂

We are of course in our usual bases such as Mind in Furness, Barrow Library, The Bridge on Portland Walk in Barrow, and Job Centres in Barrow and Kendal.

We were kindly welcomed by Women's Community Matters this morning and are looking forward to returning at the end of the month.

Come and meet with our friendly team to talk about how we can support you to stay at work, get work or return to work following time off, despite what health barriers you may have!

🚨 WorkWell weekly roundup 🚨

On Monday, we attended a third sector networking event hosted by The Wise Group in the beautiful surroundings of Swarthmoor Hall. It was a great opportunity to meet with organisations that support people in our community and how we can work together. 🌱 🤝

Tuesday was our first time having a presence in Kendal Job Centre. We hope to attend there later this month!

We met with Kendal Leisure Centre, who will offer musculoskeletal / mental health support via physical health to Kendal and surrounding areas as part of the WorkWell plan. 🏋🏻‍♀️ 🏊

On Wednesday and Thursday we were busy seeing our WorkWell participants at Barrow Library and our partner organisation Barrow Park Leisure Centre.

On Friday we were at our partner organisation Mind in Furness for the weekly drop-in session, as well as supporting our participant to attend a social group at Furness 4 U Connect Hub.

We are accepting new referrals through our link: www.bayanchornetwork.co.uk/projects/workwell/
