If you think Barry Island parkrun is not for you please read this post by showing that park run is for everyone and anyone. She injured herself late last year and has slowly worked her way back to recovery with some “walking park runs” taking 90 minutes for her longest.

A cloudy spring morning today. Still beautiful in its own right. “There’s no such thing as bad weather only bad clothing”. So we would recommend putting a raincoat on and getting down the island for a walk to breathe in that sea air. Any excuse for a coffee and slice as well.

I Checked the app before going for a dip. Today whitmore and knap have a green tick, Jackson’s and watchtower both have a Red Cross due to recent sewage discharge by Welsh water. So be careful if you swim or dip today.

Gwawr is going to be swimming from Flatholm Island in June and hoping to use it as an opportunity to raise funds and awareness of sewage pollution in our beautiful oceans, rivers and beaches. It will be a challenging swim 12-15k and should take between 4-5hrs depending on currents and sea conditions.

Hopefully those of you who watched on Channel 4, the docudrama about corrupt water companies dumping sewage into our waterways, will consider donating to “surfers against sewage” marine conservation charity to help the cause.

Barry Island parkrun done!!! What a beautiful way to start a Saturday morning, followed by a coffee and treat! So many people of different speeds and fitness levels. Have a great weekend everyone.
