In early 2020 (just before Covid-19 made an appearance!) Bright Future Hypnotherapy became part of BCS Mental Health Service to become BCS Hypnotherapy.
Following the floods in our Pontypridd office and the onset of Covid 19 it seemed like the time to make a move, to be able to help more people improve their mental health.
There are many bonuses to the joining, not least of which is that BCS and BCS Hypnotherapy are able to offer sessions for £25 online and £35 in person - meaning that good mental health is in the grasp of many many more people!
Below are a few FAQ’s about hypnotherapy, but as always please don’t hesitate to get in touch and havea chat!
Hypnotherapy is a blanket term to cover a multitude of disciplines of positive change which use hypnosis.
I am a Solution Focussed Hypnotherapist. I chose to study at the Clifton Practice in Bristol which teaches SFHT and is one of the top schools in the World with an inernational reputation.
In sessions we use a mixture of more traditional talking therapies (such as NLP, SFBT, CBT and Person Centresd counselling approaches) with Hypnosis.
No! This is, 9 times out of 10 the first question I am asked when people find out what I am training to become a Hypnotherapist (I’ll tell you the second at the end!). Hypnosis is a very relaxed state when the mind is very active. Everyone experiences the state slightly differently, but for me it is most akin to daydreaming, when everything else in the world disappears and you are totally relaxed. Everyone can be hypnotised, it’s just that some relax more quickly than others. As a hypnosist I can’t make you do anything against your will...
... oh the second most popular question...
... ‘you won’t make me tell you my bank details will you?’ - No! It isn’t possible (and wouldn’t cross my mind!), if it were a possibility there would be lots of rich hypnotists driving round in posh cars!

I first found out about Hypnotherapy several years ago when I was suffering from depression and anxiety. I was at my wits end and didn’t know which way to turn... until I saw a small advert in the local paper in Barnsley, South Yorkshire (where I was living at the time). I didn’t know anything about hypnosis, or hypnotherapy, but nothing else had worked, so I thought... ‘what have I got to lose?’ Suffice it to say, the results were amazing and have stayed with me!
I had always wanted to explore further, but spent time pursuing other careers (theatre, teaching, working for charities, etc) and didn’t think much more about it. My wife prompted me to explore the option again when I expressed my desire to help people.
I began researching Hypnotherapy schools around the country (and there are a lot of them!) but I wanted to find a school with a solid scientific backing and basis. I found one in CPHT.
Clifton Practice Hypnotherapy Training (CPHT) is a nationwide hypnotherapy training body providing a Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma (HPD).
