📢 Barry Plan for Neighbourhoods - Calling All Residents! 📢

Barry has been selected as one of five towns in Wales to receive major investment from the UK Government, through its Plan for Neighbourhoods initiative. Over the next 10 years Barry will receive £2 million each year through the Barry Plan for Neighbourhoods.

The plan will be guided by a dynamic group of local residents. business people and public servants, dedicated to making a long-term, positive difference to the town. Volunteers are needed to form five action groups that will generate creative and practical ideas for the issues that matter most to people.

🟡 Vibrant Barry - Breathing new life into Barry’s places to shop, work and enjoy, led by small business owner Fay Blakeley.

🟣 Safer Barry - Safe Streets, parks and public spaces, led by Chief Superintendent Marc Attwell.

🟠 Barry Futures - New jobs, training and skills, led by Executive Headteacher Innes Robinson.

🟢 Barry Thriving Communities - United neighbourhoods building stronger communities, led by Community Development Officer Sarah Cutting.

🔵 Barry Together - Community events and participation, led by Matt Blumberg, co-founder of GlastonBARRY.

The whole process is being coordinated by the Barry Plan for Neighbourhoods Board, chaired by David Stevens, local resident and former CEO of Admiral Group.

Some pharmacies offer the Pharmacist Independent Prescriber Service – a free NHS service where you can get expert advice and free treatment if required, without needing to see your GP.

We’ll soon be sending out booking links via text message to parents/guardians for children’s flu vaccinations (2-3 years old on 31st Aug). While most childhood vaccines have an uptake of around 95%, last year far fewer children received their nasal flu vaccine.

Sexual Health Services for Under 18s moving to Barry Hospital from 10th September 2025 👇👇

Sexual health services in Barry are moving❗

From 10 September 2025, services that were previously available at Broad Street Clinic on Thursdays will move to Barry Hospital and take place on Wednesdays.

These services include a walk-in clinic for Depo-Provera injections and a walk-in clinic for under 18-year-olds.

All other sexual health services will continue to be provided at Cardiff Royal Infirmary.

🌈✨ Flu Vaccinations for 2 & 3 Year Olds 🌈✨

We will soon contacting all parents and carers of children who are aged 2 or 3 on 31st August. Vaccinations are planned to start in September, ahead of the adult campaign at the beginning in October. We will send parents and guardians a text message with a pre-bookable link for you to conveniently book your child into an appointment.

🛑Don’t Run Out of Medication This Bank Holiday!🛑

Bank Holiday Weekend is coming up!

The Surgery will be closed on the following date:
🗓️ Monday 25th August 2025

Please make sure you have enough medication to last through the break.

✅ Order by: Tuesday 19th August
🕔 Time: Before 5:00 PM

After this time, we may not be able to process your prescription until after the holiday.

📅 Plan ahead — avoid last-minute stress!
💊 The easiest way to order your medication is using the NHS Wales App https://app.nhs.wales/login

Repeat Prescriptions take 72hrs to process (not including weekends or bank holidays) so please check your medication and order ahead of time to avoid any delays. Please also allow pharmacies time to also dispense the medication.

If your medication is ordered through a nominated pharmacy it is your responsibility to contact them and check your medication is ordered ahead of time.
