💉 It’s Flu Vaccine Season — Please Keep Your Appointment with the Surgery

If you’ve already booked your flu vaccination with us, please keep your appointment.

We’ve carefully planned our clinics — including staffing and vaccine supplies — to match the appointments we’ve made.

It can be tempting to get your vaccine done elsewhere if you’re offered, but by sticking with your scheduled appointment, you’re helping us manage resources efficiently and ensure everyone in our community gets protected on time.

Thank you for your support and for helping us keep our community healthy this winter 💙

Each year, the Welsh Government asks GP practices to gather feedback from patients about their experience of care. We’d be very grateful if you are a patient, could take a few minutes to complete a short, anonymous questionnaire about your most recent visit or contact with us here at West Quay Medical Centre.

We Want Your Views on Continuity of Care

At West Quay Medical Centre, we’re exploring how patients feel about continuity of care, that is, the experience of seeing the same doctor or a consistent group of doctors for your medical needs.

To help us understand what matters most to you, we’d really appreciate it if you could take a moment to complete a short questionnaire. It’s just three quick questions, and your feedback will help shape how we deliver care in the future.

As well as spooky season, October is also Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Around 55,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK each year but breast cancer can affect anyone, at any age and any gender. So what can you do to protect yourself?

➡️Check your breasts regularly, so you know what’s normal for you. This will make it easier to notice any changes in size, look or feel of your breasts.

➡️Attend your breast screening appointment. Women aged 50 to 70 are invited for breast screening every 3 years which looks for breast cancer before symptoms show.

Screening can find cancer when it’s too small to see or feel. It gives you an opportunity to treat cancer early, giving you the best possible chance of survival.

Visit the website to read more about checking your breasts and details about breast screening in Wales.

Important information particularly this time of year. Often self-care by resting, drinking enough fluids and over the counter medication 💊 will help 👇

Coughs and colds are common at this time of year. There's usually no need to see a GP if you have a cough, it will usually clear up on its own within 3 to 4 weeks.

However, see a GP if:
➡️ you have had a cough for more than 3 weeks (persistent cough)
➡️ you're losing weight for no reason
➡️ you have a weakened immune system – for example, because of chemotherapy or diabetes
