MMRV vaccination
Is your baby turning 1 soon?
At 12 months old, children in Wales are routinely offered their first MMRV vaccine, with a second dose at 18 months.
The vaccine:
✔ Protects your child from measles, mumps, rubella and chickenpox
✔ Reduces the risk of outbreaks
✔ Helps protect babies who are too young to be vaccinated
It’s quick, safe, and part of the routine childhood immunisation schedule.
If you’ve received your appointment letter, don’t forget to attend. Every dose counts.

Following the success of last week’s MenACWY vaccine catch-up clinics, further sessions are being offered this Saturday (March 28).

Anyone from the ages of 13-14 (Year 9 of secondary school) up to the age of 25 can walk into one of our clinics to receive the vaccine without having to book an appointment.

They are being held in the following locations:
• Barry Hospital, Colcot Road, CF62 8YH (Sat, March 28: 9am-4.30pm)
• Maelfa Wellbeing Hub, Llanedeyrn, Cardiff, CF23 9PN (Sat, March 28: 9am-4.30pm)

The MenACWY vaccine is offered to young people aged 13-14 as part of their routine schedule to protect against meningococcal disease. These catch-up sessions are for those who didn’t get the vaccine the first time around.

While rare, meningococcal disease can be very serious and require urgent hospital treatment. It can lead to life-changing disabilities such as amputations, hearing loss, brain damage and scars.

If parents of younger children would like information about their meningitis B and pneumococcal vaccination status - both of which are given to children as part of their routine vaccination schedule up to the age of 2 - please call the vaccination service on 02921 841234 (lines open Mon-Fri 9am-4.45pm). You can also book any missed doses with your GP.

Cardiff and Vale University Health board has just launched it's pharmaceutical needs assessment survey.

This survey forms a key part of the wider pharmaceutical needs assessment, which supports the organisation in reviewing the availability of pharmacy services in pharmacies across Cardiff and Vale, including how far patients need to travel to access their pharmacy and the services that patients access most.

Most importantly, this assessment examines whether the current services meet the needs of our communities, and if there are any opportunities and or service improvements C&VUHB can consider over a five-year period.

By taking part in this survey, you can help shape how pharmaceutical services are delivered across Cardiff and Vale, while making sure that our communities have access to the support they need.

Complete the survey in English:

Complete the survey in Welsh:

Please take a few minutes to take our survey.

Meningitis Walk-In Clinics

Catch-up clinics are being held for teenagers and young adults who have not had an important meningitis vaccination.

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is holding walk-in clinics for young people in Year 9 and up to the age of 25 who have previously missed their MenACWY vaccination appointment.

Walk-in clinics are being held every Saturday (starting March 21) until further notice at the following locations:

🔹Barry Hospital, Colcot Road, CF62 8YH (9am-4.30pm)
🔹Maelfa Wellbeing Hub, Llanedeyrn, Cardiff, CF23 9PN (9am-4.30pm)

Young people aged 13-14 (school Year 9) are invited by GPs in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan to receive this vaccine as part of their routine schedule but sometimes these appointments can get missed.

The MenACWY vaccine protects against meningococcal disease type A, C, W and Y.
