‘Will hypnosis actually work on me!?’
I hear this a lot! It’s understandable why.. because the way that hypnosis is portrayed is often that it’s some kind of magic wand, or we are ‘put under’ in this state of trance.
In all honestly this isn’t how hypnosis works. It’s a totally natural function of the brain, that hypnotherapists utilise in therapy to gently help clients build positive beliefs and thought patterns, and process built up stress and emotion.
It’s a fantastic tool to help clients make incredible changes!
If you’ve been living in ‘survival mode’ for a while, it might take the brain a short while to feel safe enough to get into that lovely relaxed state, simply because it’s learned to be on high alert! But just like with anything else, every single time you do it, you’re building that skill and it gets easier to switch off.
