Heading to an open farm or petting zoo this summer? 🐑🦆🦒

Cuddling with lambs may be cute but lambs and other farm or zoo animals can carry infectious diseases, so good hand hygiene for you and your little ones is important. Stay safe by following these tips:

✅ Wash hands with soap and hot water immediately after touching animals and their enclosures. Hand gels are often not enough.
✅ Do not eat or drink while touching animals.
✅Wash hands before and after preparing and eating food.

You can often treat an insect bite or sting without seeing a GP 🦟

If there's nothing in your skin, or you've removed it, wash your skin with soap and water to help lower the chance of infection. The bite or sting should get better in a few days. Did you know a pharmacist can advise you about medicines that can help ease the symptoms of a bite or sting?

If your symptoms get worse or are not getting any better, you have a high temperature and swollen glands, or you've had a serious allergic reaction to an insect bite or sting before, you can call 111 or get help from NHS 111 Wales online.
