Cllr Howard Hamilton

Tributes have poured in for a long-standing Vale of Glamorgan councillor and former mayor who passed away peacefully on 5th July 2025 at home. Labour councillor for the Barry ward of Illtyd, Cllr Howard Hamilton also served as an elected member of Barry Town Council from 2008.

Cllr Howard Hamilton was described as a passionate advocate for disabled members of the community through his work as a disability champion at Vale Council and sitting on the executive committee for Wales Council for the Blind.

Much loved husband of the late Carol, loving Dad to Andrea, Colette and Julian and adored Grandfather to Joshua, Llewcus, Ellie, Sam and Alex and great grandfather to Leighton, Isobel and Olivia.

Resting at Park Funeral Directors, 7 Tynewydd Road, Barry until the service on Tuesday 29th of July at Cardiff & Glamorgan Crematorium, Port Road East at 11am.

Family flowers only, donations in lieu of flowers will be greatly received and given in Howard’s memory to Marie Curie.

Our window is presented with the RNLI being recognised for the excellent voluntary work carried out by its dedicated members. Rain. wind or shine, these brave people turn out to save and protect us.

John, when competing and judged by a Grade 1 World Champion Bagpiper, was placed Joint 1st at the World Amateur Solo Piping Championships in 2009.

A milestone day as we remember and celebrate the ending of a long and brutal conflict.

This week our premises window is dedicated to the memory of those who fought in WW2 and the 80th anniversary celebrations for the end of the conflict.
We remember those who fought to preserve our nation, Army, Royal Navy, Royal Air Force and not forgetting all the lesser mentioned organisations such as the merchant navy, ambulance drivers, air raid wardens, firefighters and fire watchers, a volunteer police force to fill in for those called up to serve, observers and many others.
Bless them all!!

This week we were engaged with the funeral of a local gentleman who had proudly served in the Royal Welch Fusiliers some years ago. Representatives from the Regiment were present, including a regimental bugler, thus ensuring a fitting and dignified send off. We have carried out many funerals for military and ex military men and women and it is always a pleasure to recongnise their service to the country.
Our condolences to the gentleman's family on this sad occasion.

As 11.00am approaches, we remember the ultimate sacrifice made by so many, in lots of different conflicts, so that we can have the lives that we have. Thank you for your much appreciated service

As is our tradition, our window is dedicated to all of the service personnel, who lost their lives in various conflicts, not forgetting the merchant navy, especially recognised in Barry as many from the town lost their lives.
Over the years we have carried out many funerals for service and ex service personnel.

Remembering that awful day 58 years ago, when so many children and some adults, lost their lives when the coal tip at Aberfan engulfed the local school. May they a rest in peace.

Today, Park Funerals carried out the funeral of Retired Major Alan John Dale.
This retired officer had a distinguished military career and we are privileged and honoured to have been instructed by his wife, to carry out the arrangements. Thank you for your service and may you rest in peace.
