Active Recovery โค๏ธโ๐ฉน ๐๏ธ๐งโโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ
Sometimes the best thing you can do for both you and your dog is take a short time out of your sport! โค๏ธ
Bock has had 2 weeks off agility, training and competing. After a very full-on few months, I think we both needed it mentally as much as physically.
That does not mean doing nothing though. Recovery can still be active.
Whilst he has had a break from the demands of agility, we have still kept up with low impact exercises to maintain co-ordination, muscle engagement and keep his body ticking over. We have also had treatment, some chiropractic work, enjoyed lovely walks and, most importantly, he has just been allowed to be a dog.
The break has actually done me a lot of good too. It has given me chance to get back into my own fitness routine, which had slipped a little with work and agility being so busy, and start planning our next 12 weeks leading up to EO in July.
Most importantly, it has given us time to spend quality time with family and friends away from agility.
Now after a proper mental reset, we are both feeling refreshed, motivated and ready to get back to it tomorrow.
Sometimes rest is not a backwards step, it is exactly what is needed to move forwards and allow the body & mind to recover!! ๐
