"ALL CARBS ARE BAD FOR YOU" - Confused Nutritionist.
Well, as foods are a mixture of macro's and no whole foods are 100% carbs this statement couldn't be further from FALSE.
The facts are, "whole foods" aren't processed carbs (packed with refined sugars) they are what is known as "complex carbs" which are usually found in foods packed with other great health benefits such as dietary fibre, protein and vitamins and minerals.
An example is the absorption and digestion rate of an ORANGE over ORANGE JUICE, which obviously are completely different.
When juiced the fructose sugars in an orange aren't bonded to fibre which makes the SUGAR more bioavailable and more fattening as excess sugar is stored by the body as FAT.
So thinks like "whole fruits" and foods such as Quinoa, Veggies, Beans, Sweet potatoes, Grains, Lentils and Brown Rice are RICH in carbs, this is true.
BUT the also have vital fibre, proteins and as such in their "whole form" are excellent for health.
The BODY takes sugars into glucose yes BUT the sugar is less bioavailable and instead you digest all the other key dietary benefits such as vitamins, minerals and macros, which in essence make them super foods.
