The school came first place in the tesco token scheme and we were awarded £1,500 to go towards new bikes and trikes. The school needs larger trikes for the older pupils.

We have purchased one to see how the pupils get on with it.

As you can see it's currently a lot of smaller trikes that are used which cannot be used by the older pupils.

The specialised trikes are thousands of pounds so we've gone for a basic adult trike instead. If the pupils can use it we will purchase some more like this and possibly some smaller sizes.

The pupils love being outside and playing so hopefully this will give more opportunities for the older pupils to not only have fun but work on core skills like balance, coordination and gross motor skills.

The school had a visitor this morning, welcoming all of the pupils in ahead of the picnic afternoon that the school holds near the end of the school year. Thank you Memorable Mascots x x

All of the pupils had a lovely afternoon eating and dancing out on one of the green areas within the school grounds The rain held off for most of the time but the wind made putting the gazebos away fun 🤣

Thank you to everyone who popped along and bought from the Friends of Pioneer School Community stall. It was lovely to see you. X

We are going to have a stall set out at the picnic next Tuesday afternoon selling some items we have. There's a bit of everything so if you're attending the oicnic please feel free to pop over and have a look.

We take cash or card.

This is happening for parents who have children in older green classes as well as red classes.

For any parents that are anxious about transitions this will be a useful meeting to attend. Please let the school office now if you can attend.

Such a lovely sunny day today. 🌞

The school is so fortunate to have some lovely outdoor spaces. We are aiming to focus on updating some of the outdoor spaces over the next few years.

This is one of the areas that was updated a while ago. With lots of equipment that everybody can use, including a wheelchair swing and a floor trampoline plus an outdoor gym.

Outdoor spaces are key to the pupils at the school. The indoor classroom areas can become overwhelming so having an outdoor place to go to reduces anxiety and provides a different learning experience and environment.

Sunflowers are looking amazing at the entrance to forest school and the sweat peas are coming along too. The pupils absolutely love the plants, and they are also get to see some of the insects that are flying about that are attracted to them.

Having the chance to learn about nature enhances their everyday experience at School.

Last chance this term today come and visit the charity shop at the school.

Items start from £1 and the money from the charity shop goes into a pot where the individual classes can then ask fornthings for their classrooms.

Last week at Pioneer School it was careers week. People from all different avenues came to visit the pupils at the there was also a little field trip to TUI in Basildon town centre to talk about holidays and they all got involved.

There was a visit from 4 police officers and their police car. Then the fire service also attended and the spraying of the hose is always a popular one.

Then we had a cleaner in to talk to the whole school about their job, each student went around and had a turn at using the different equipment used in a cleaning job.

Southend United FC came in and did a session with the football club, they interviewed the coaches about their job role.

The travelling librarian came in and told a careers story to the upper school classes.

Little city came in for the lower school, they used role play to look at all the different jobs in the community.

Middle and upper school had a visit from Mcdonalds, they explained about their access to employment and their apprenticeships, we all tried on their uniforms and took some orders.

Some students had a visit from the
NHS about careers in a hospital.
Friday the whole school went to the hairdressing workshop, they practised dying, brushing, plaiting and brushing hair models.

Thank you so much to all the people that took time out of their days to come and interact with the students. It's always gratefully received by all.

The school has a choir. They perform as part of school productions as well as out in the community. The choir members sing and sign along to the songs.

Last month Lydia Lucy came to visit the school and sing with the choir. They were all so excited and had a great time singing with Lucy

Well done to all the pupils today it was a hot one. Thanks to all the staff that set everything up and that were out and about along the course in the heat.

Everyone did amazing and look forward to hearing the total money raised.
