👟 When heel pain keeps returning, we look deeper.

If symptoms persist after your initial treatment, the next step may be custom 3D-printed orthotics.

Using data from your gait scan, we create Phits orthotics, designed specifically for your feet and how you move.

These precision insoles help by:

✔ Reducing strain on the plantar fascia
✔ Improving shock absorption
✔ Supporting your arches
✔ Offloading pressure from painful areas

They’re lightweight, durable, and designed to help your feet work more efficiently.

Here are 5 facts about your feet

👣 1. Your feet contain a quarter of all the bones in your body
Each foot has 26 bones, meaning both feet together contain 52 bones — around 25% of all the bones in the human body.

👣 2. Your feet have over 7,000 nerve endings
This makes them incredibly sensitive and important for balance, coordination, and movement.

👣 3. The average person walks the equivalent of five times around the Earth in their lifetime
That’s around 110,000 miles — your feet really do carry you a long way!

👣 4. Your feet contain 33 joints and over 100 muscles, tendons and ligaments
All working together to support your body, absorb shock, and help you move efficiently.

👣 5. The skin on the soles of your feet is the thickest on your body
It’s specially designed to handle the pressure and impact of standing and walking every day.

✨ Your feet do an incredible job supporting you, so it’s worth looking after them.

If you are concerned about your feet, we are here to help. Book your appointment now.

Do you think you might have a corn?

Corns are small areas of hardened skin caused by repeated pressure or friction, often from footwear, toe shape, or how your foot carries weight when you walk. Despite what many people think, corns don’t have roots, but they can press deep into the skin, causing sharp, localised pain.

The good news:

With professional podiatry treatment, corns can usually be removed safely with immediate relief.

At Essex Footcare, our HCPC-registered podiatrists assess the cause of the problem as well as treating it, helping reduce the chance of it returning.

⚠️ Avoid corn plasters or acid treatments, they can damage healthy skin.

📅 If you think you have a corn, book an appointment with Essex Footcare today and walk comfortably again.

🌟 What’s it really like to work at Essex Footcare?

Here’s what Olivia, one of our podiatrists, shared before heading off to travel the world:
“I’ve really enjoyed the variety of patients, learning new treatments, and being part of a friendly, supportive team. I thrived in an environment with clear communication and approachable colleagues who shared knowledge. I’d definitely consider returning one day.”

That’s the kind of workplace we’ve built, one where people feel valued, supported, and free to grow.

Do you wake up with heel pain?

That sharp, stabbing pain with your first steps in the morning doesn’t have to be your normal.

While heel pain can have several causes, the majority of people we see in clinic are suffering from plantar fasciitis, inflammation of the plantar fascia, the strong band of tissue that supports your arch and absorbs shock when you walk.

Pain is often worst first thing in the morning because the tissue tightens overnight, then suddenly stretches when you stand.

Why does it happen?

Usually, it’s a combination of factors:
• Unsupportive footwear (especially flip-flops, slippers & flat sandals)
• Long hours on hard floors
• A change in activity levels
• Tight calves or Achilles tendons
• Over-pronation (arches lowering too much when walking)

We often see a spike in cases in April and May when boots are swapped for lighter, less supportive shoes.

The good news? We can help.

At Essex Footcare, we offer:
✔️ Biomechanical gait assessment
✔️ Footwear advice
✔️ Custom Orthotics
✔️ Personalised rehab programmes
✔️ Shockwave therapy for chronic cases

You don’t have to “just live with it.”

📅 Book your heel pain assessment with usat Essex Footcare in Romford, Basildon and Billericay and start your mornings pain-free again.

👣 Did you know… not all foot problems are a big deal?

We often see patients who’ve spent weeks worrying about a pain in their foot or a “strange-looking” bump or nail, assuming it will take multiple appointments and cost a fortune to fix.

The truth?
Sometimes it’s a quick, simple solution, sorted in just one appointment.

Of course, some conditions do need ongoing care, but many common issues like corns, callus, ingrown nail spikes, or certain types of pain can be relieved much faster than people expect.

The key is this: don’t panic until you’ve had an expert opinion.

If something doesn’t feel right, let us take a look. Peace of mind is often just one appointment away. 💙

📅 Book in at Essex Footcare in Romford, Basildon and Billericay and get it checked, your feet will thank you.

🌙 World Sleep Day – How well are you sleeping?

A good night’s sleep is essential for your body to repair, reset, and recover. But did you know foot problems can quietly disrupt your rest?

We often see patients whose worries about foot pain keep them awake, and some who simply can’t get comfortable. Something as small as an ingrown toenail can make sleeping difficult, with even the pressure of the duvet causing sharp discomfort.

When your feet hurt, it’s hard to fully relax.

If a foot-related issue is affecting your sleep, whether it’s heel pain, throbbing toes, cramping, or tenderness, don’t ignore it.

👣 You deserve to rest comfortably.

📞 Get in touch and let us help you sleep (and wake) pain-free.
