Small chocolate eggs cover in a hard shell (Mini eggs) is a popular Easter treat.
However, did you know they are the perfect size to block small children's airways causing choking. Their hard shell can make it difficult to dislodge using standard basic first aid.

These small eggs carry a safety warning and are not suitable for children under 4 years old.

For more information regarding common choking hazards please visit the Child and Accident preventions Choking hub page: https://capt.org.uk/choking-prevention/

Mini eggs of all colours and brands are lining the supermarket shelves. But, did you know that they are the perfect size to block a small child’s airway and choke them? And, their hard shell can make it difficult to dislodge with standard first aid techniques.

That’s why they carry a safety warning that they aren’t recommended for children under 4.

So, when you’re stocking up for the Easter Bunny please stay safe and choose another treat for your little one.

Visit our choking hub to learn more about common choking hazards and what you should do in an emergency: https://capt.org.uk/choking-prevention/

🧠 Family mental health: building resilience in children
Children develop resilience through everyday experiences and supportive relationships.

Ways to support positive coping:
• Keep routines and clear boundaries
• Encourage children to name and talk about feelings
• Model calm coping strategies (e.g. slow breathing)
• Praise effort and problem-solving
• Make time for connection and play
If your child is struggling with worries, low mood or big emotions, our child & family services can offer support.

Find out more about emotional health and wellbeing on our website:

If you are, or a young person you are supporting is, struggling with emotions and feelings, you’re not alone. It can be helpful to understand that often our feelings are ‘normal’ reactions to traumatic events. Sometimes we all need support and a bit of extra help to move forward and feel safe ...

Longer, lighter days are lovely - until it’s still bright at bedtime! Changing daylight can throw off sleep routines for babies children, but a few simple tweaks can help keep sleep on track.

Here’s how to make bedtime smoother as the clocks change:

🌅 Get outside earlier in the day - morning and afternoon daylight helps reset your child’s internal clock - bright light in the daytime = easier sleep at night.

📅 Stick to steady sleep times - similar bed and wake times every day help your little one’s body clock stay on track - even when evenings stay light longer.

📘 Set a calming bedtime vibe - wind-down routines with quiet activities and dim lights tell the brain it’s sleep time.

📵 Ease off screens before bed - screens and bright lights near bedtime can keep little brains switched on - dim the lights and enjoy cosy quiet time instead.
If you need help with your child's sleep, we are here to support you.
