It has been a real privilege to welcome Geoff and Jo to The Padded Cell over the past three weeks.
Geoff had his stroke back in 2019 and came to see us recently just to explore whether anything here might help him feel a little stronger in himself. We made no promises. We simply started where he was, one small step at a time, in a safe space to go inside.
Already we have seen some lovely changes. A bit more movement. A bit more confidence. More enjoyment in the sessions. Geoff smiling and looking forward to coming in.
Jo’s steady support has been beautiful to witness. Talking to Jo about her feelings and moments as well has allowed her to express the ups and downs of a nearly 7 year journey - a very inspiring story of true unconditional love and strength in relationship that is a proud moment to have helped and played a role in
We are not a miracle cure. We are just a place that looks after body, mind and soul with patience and kindness. Sometimes that is oxygen, sometimes compression boots, sometimes gentle exercise, sometimes just a cup of tea and a chat in the lounge or a bit of music in KRUSSH Studio.
Geoff’s journey reminds us why this place was built from lived experience. Small steps matter. Feeling seen matters. Hope matters.
Thank you Geoff and Jo for trusting us with a small part of your story.
If anyone else is wondering whether life can still move forward after illness or injury, please know there is always a place to begin.
