Youth Knee Injuries in sport β½πππΎπ
In the last twenty years there has been a 29-fold increase in serious childrenβs knee injuries that require surgery.
Not only are these devastating at the time, they keep children away from sport for 12 months and can end up having long-term health consequences.
I attended a talk last week at Reading University, from a group of experts in orthopaedics & sports medicine, who have set up the SKIPP Charity & recommend a simple warm-up that when performed regularly reduces these injuries by up to 50% π
The SKIPP Charity provide free, practical training for coaches so they gain confidence to regularly use the warm-up with their youth players in grassroots sport.
If you have a child that regularly does sport or you know someone who coaches a team, please pass on this information, as by carrying out this simple advice it could prevent your child or one of their team mates getting a serious knee injury π¦΅
