The Sporty Counsellor & Therapist The Sporty Counsellor. Providing mental health support for people into sport and exercise.

I'm a qualified counsellor with a specialism in working with active individuals who want to explore their relationship with exercise, sports and fitness. I'm a former PE teacher with a background in playing sport to semi-professional level. I have a degree in Sports Science and Physical Education where I majored in Sports Psychology and still take part in exercise several times a week.

“Have I done enough?” “Am I ready?” “What if I fail?”

These thoughts aren't just with you during the tapering period.

When you’re moving, pushing, focusing, the noise quietens. You feel free, clear, like yourself again. Sport becomes the place you go to escape what’s underneath.

Maybe that's why you love running.

So the question isn’t just “am I ready for the 26.2 on race day?”

It’s: what am I running from the rest of the time?

When you feel more settled, more understood, more steady in yourself... that's when your performance improves too.

This is where counselling comes in. Contact me and let's talk...

You’ve built the body.
Now build the mindset.

You chase PRs, push through pain, stay disciplined but what about the stuff you don’t talk about?

Stress. Pressure. Anger. Doubt.

You can’t outlift what’s going on in your head.

Real strength? Facing it. Talking it through. Getting clear.

Work on your head, not just your body.

We train hard, push limits, chase performance… but what about balance?

Sometimes the strongest move isn’t going faster - it’s slowing down, reflecting, and resetting. That’s where counselling steps in.

Is your life needing some New Balance?

Even at the highest level of sport, success doesn’t always equal fulfilment.

Team GB boxer Delicious Orie made the brave decision to step away from boxing - not because he couldn’t succeed but because he recognised the impact it was having on his mental health.

In elite sport (and everyday life), we often prioritise performance over wellbeing - until it catches up with us.

Clearing your head isn’t the same as understanding your head.

Exercise helps. No doubt.
It gives you space. Relief. A break.

But if your head needs clearing every single day…
something’s building up that you’re not dealing with.

Stress doesn’t just appear out of nowhere.
Thoughts don’t pile up for no reason.

So what’s actually underneath it?
What are you carrying that never gets said out loud?

Counselling isn’t about stopping what helps.
It’s about finally dealing with what keeps showing up underneath the exercise.

What if you had therapy for 75 days in a row too?
Are you not up to that challenge? Scared?
You can push your body but can't sit down with a counsellor and talk?

Running helps. The gym helps. Staying busy helps.
But helping isn’t the same as healing.

At some point, you have to ask yourself:
What am I actually trying not to feel?

Because if it only works while you’re doing it… it’s not fixing it.
It’s just giving you a break from it.

Counselling. Let's finally face what won’t leave you alone.

How's life away from sport? Relationships? Friendships? Connection with others?

What if all your metrics are looking decent but your mood is not?

You can endure the pain in training but what about the touchy-feely stuff in life like emotions, love and attachments?

Ready to talk and find some peace with it all?
