A great local charity raising money to support their services

The Pink Place welcomes Guests (ladies with a cancer diagnosis) at any point from initial diagnosis, through treatment and afterwards. They offer a range of wellbeing sessions and activities during the week. These include Complementary Therapies, Counselling, Hair Advice, social activities, Mindfulness and Yoga

Cardiac Arrest can happen to anyone, anywhere, at anytime. Would you know what to do?

Today a group of our staff took part in CPR and Defibrillator training provided courtesy of an initiative by Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.

The session was well received by everyone and gave them the confidence to carry out CPR should the need ever occur.

For every minute that someone is in cardiac arrest without receiving CPR and early defibrillation used on them, their chance of survival decreases by 10%.

Early defibrillation within 3–5 minutes of collapse can increase survival rates by up to 50-70%.

CPR Skills for Life sessions are delivered to corporate groups, community groups and schools and youth groups by a mix of members of the Critical Care Teams and the Basic Life Support Instructor trained staff and volunteers.

The final figures are in and we are delighted to announce that we raised £12,388.53 for our 2024 Charity of the Year, The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance(HIOWAA)

This was the 2nd year in a row we supported the HIOWAA and we are over the moon to unveil that we raised over £35,000 over the 2 years.

We have had some amazing experiences with HIOWAA, including Abseiling down the Spinnaker Tower, Fire Walks, our annual Golf day and our Hampshire Loopy cycling event to name a few. We’d like to thank the team at HIOWAA for their assistance during these past two years.

We are also really pleased that HIOWAA liked our Hampshire Loopy event so much they have launched their own Ride of Champions. A 100 mile ride through Hampshire and the Isle of Wight countryside taking in 2 ferry crossings making this a unique feature for a cycling sportive taking inspiration from our Hampshire Loopy Challenge.

As 2024 draws to a close we just wanted to do a last day charity shout out to the amazing team of YNRA - You'll Never Run Alone

Last week they ran from Basingstoke to Liverpool in 7 days, raising money for two great charities, St Michael's Hospice (North Hampshire) and Victoria's Promise in memory of Debbie.

The team endured a hard start facing the tail end of storm Darragh but that did not deter them as they continued running over 7 marathons in 7 days.

Backed up by a support team consisting of our Group Accountant, Kevin Croombs and Basingstoke's finest Mark Jones and bouyed by guest runners along the way it really has been an amazing tale of endurance.

The team arrived at Anfield on Saturday 14th December to be greeted by family and friends in what was an emotional moment. (you can watch the moment they arrived on the YNRA - You'll Never Run Alone page

So far they have raised almost £45,000 towards their target of £50,000 - Can you help them get over the line?
