Thank you to everyone joined and supported our Woodland Walk and Run yesterday! Together, 265 walkers laced up their boots and helped raise an incredible £13,000 (and counting!) for our Hospice.

Seeing so many familiar and new faces coming together in the stunning surroundings of the Farleigh Wallop Estate was incredible.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to:

Sparta Health: Our wonderful event sponsors, for their continued support.

Farleigh Wallop Estate: For so kindly allowing us to explore their beautiful grounds.

PureGym Basingstoke: For their energy during the morning warm-ups and their help with our event signage.

Gary at Epitome Build: For his kind donation of the cream for our well-deserved cream teas.

LaVazza Greggs, and Fyffes: For providing the coffee, doughnuts, gingerbread men, and bananas that kept our walkers energized.

Asda Basingstoke, Tesco Chineham, and Morrisons Basingstoke: For their generous donations of snacks for the trail.

Hampshire 4x4 Response & Raynet: For their indispensable work in keeping everyone safe and connected across the route.

Finally, to our Volunteers and every single person who walked or donated: thank you! Your community spirit ensures we can continue providing vital care to those who need it most.

What a wonderful day we had for our Woodland Walk and Run! 🌲☀️

The weather was simply perfect, and it was a joy to see so many of you, along with a few four-legged friends, out enjoying the sunshine and the beautiful scenery.

We want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us. Whether you were walking with friends, running the trails, or wearing your finest tutus, your energy made the day truly special.

A very special mention must go to our volunteers. We are so grateful to those who gave up their Sunday to cheer us on, man the stalls, and keep everything running smoothly. We quite literally couldn't do it without you. 💙

By taking part today, you are helping to ensure we can continue providing care and support to those who need it most.

Thank you for being such a vital part of the St. Michael's Hospice family. We hope you’re all enjoying a well-earned rest this evening! ☕✨

We believe care goes far beyond medical treatment. It’s about helping our patients find joy, connection, and peace in the moments that matter most.

Dawn one of our dedicated counsellors, shares the story of an inspiring woman she supported. Together, they worked on letters to her sons, capturing the words and wisdom she wanted to leave behind.

But it didn't stop there. With the support of our team, she was able to celebrate a "pre-wake" with her friends and even enjoy a trip to the Ritz in London. She made every second count, proving that hospice care isn't just about the end of life, it's about the quality of life until the very last moment.

To provide this level of support, we must raise £15,000 every single day. Your donation to the Every Moment Matters Appeal directly funds our specialists, like Dawn, who make these memories possible.

£37 could fund a bereavement counselling session for a loved one.

£100 could help provide 5 hours of expert nursing care.

£170 could fund a visit from our Hospice at Home team.

Your kindness ensures that no one in our community has to face the end of life without the compassion and joy they deserve.

Why Jake is running 26.2 miles for St. Michael’s Hospice 🏃‍♂️

This year, we had just one charity space for the London Marathon. We are so proud to announce that Jake is taking on the incredible challenge to give back to the Hospice that supported his family during their most difficult time.

"My first interaction with the Hospice was 10 years ago. I remember how polite and helpful the staff were. If I needed something, nothing was too difficult for them. My mum only agreed to come in if she could pass at home, and as time got closer, the Hospice said, 'We think it's time, but it could be dangerous,’ with the state she was in. As a family, we wanted to fulfil her wish, so the Hospice got her home, for a pain-free week. I'm most grateful for the Hospice who honoured that and did what they said they'd do." - Jake

Every pound raised helps ensure that other families receive this same compassionate, personalised care when they need it most.

It’s , and today we’re looking back at a year of extraordinary kindness.

We often say we couldn't do it without our volunteers, but the numbers for 2025/26 really prove it. In just one year, 681 of you stepped up to help, donating a staggering 73,168 hours of your time.

Whether you were sorting donations, supporting patients, or keeping our gardens beautiful, your hard work saved the Hospice £914,318. That is nearly a million pounds that goes directly back into the care and comfort of our patients and their families.

To our 681 heroes: You are the heart of St Michael’s Hospice. Thank you for every minute.

Every life is a story, and the final chapter should be written with peace and dignity. Hospice care is about so much more than medicine. It’s about protecting the precious time families have left.

This week, as part of our Every Moment Matters Appeal, we want you to meet Jim and Jan.

In 2019, Jim received a terminal cancer diagnosis. He and his partner Jan are using the Living Well Service and are being supported by St. Michael’s Hospice. They share just how important that care is.

“A hospice isn’t the end, it’s the opposite. It supports patients and their loved ones. Jan has people at St. Michael’s Hospice to help her, and that gives me peace of mind.”

That peace of mind is everything and you can help provide it today.

By supporting the Every Moment Matters Appeal, you help ensure that patients like Jim and their loved ones like Jan receive specialist care and comfort when they need it most.

See the difference your donation makes:

£25 provides a pain-relieving massage to help a patient relax.

£37 funds a bereavement session to support a loved one through their grief.

£100 covers five hours of dedicated, expert nursing care.

£170 brings the hospice to the front door with a specialist home visit.

Because of you, families like Jim and Jan’s can focus on what truly matters, being together.

Because when you’re living with a life-limiting illness, every moment matters.

Please help us keep these vital services running for local families today.

Your life is a story, the ending matters

As part of our Every Moment Matters Appeal, this week we’re introducing you to some of the individuals your donations help to support, people like Simon.

Simon is living with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) and receives care and support from the Hospice. In this short video, he shares his personal experience, and the difference St. Michael’s Hospice has made to him.

This support is only possible because of you.

We are facing a growing challenge due to limited NHS funding and the rising cost of providing our services. To continue being there for our community, we must raise £15,000 every single day.

By donating to the Every Moment Matters Appeal, you are helping us continue to provide specialist care that ensures these precious times are filled with comfort and dignity, rather than fear or pain.

How your gift helps us care for local families:

£25 could help fund a pain-relieving massage for a patient.

£37 could help fund a bereavement counselling session for a loved one.

£100 could help fund 5 hours of expert Hospice Nursing care.

£170 could fund a one-hour visit from our Hospice at Home team.

Your kindness ensures that no one in our community has to face the end of life alone or in pain.

Please consider making a donation today to help us care for people like Simon when they need us most.
