🎨🌸 Yesterday was a truly lovely day in our home! Our residents rolled up their sleeves and got stuck into some still life painting once again. This time, they decided they’d love to paint flowers, so that’s exactly what we did! 🌼💐

Each piece turned out so beautifully and uniquely, reflecting the wonderful personalities behind every brushstroke. It’s always such a joy to see their creativity blossoming. 💛✨

🧁✨ Baking fun at St Thomas Care Home! ✨🧁

This week, some of our lovely residents rolled up their sleeves and helped bake the most delicious raspberry crumble bars. There was plenty of laughter and everyone was wonderfully helpful, and very eager to taste the final result! 😄🍓

While we waited for our crumble bars to bake, we enjoyed a lovely sing-along to Que Sera Sera 🎶 the perfect soundtrack to a cosy afternoon together.

It’s always a joy to see our residents enjoying these little moments. 💛

🌿✨ Outing to Capital Gardens! ✨🌿

Yesterday, some of our lovely residents from St Thomas enjoyed a delightful trip to Capital Gardens Garden Centre! 🪴🌸 They had a wonderful time exploring all the beautiful plants, from colourful blooms to impressive fruit trees 🍎🌳

To everyone’s surprise, they even bumped into a very large Santa! 🎅🎄 There were plenty of smiles and laughter all round.

We finished our outing with a well-deserved cup of tea and a slice of cake, ☕🍰 the perfect way to end such a lovely afternoon! 💕

We had a very special visitor at our care home this week, Baxter, our lovely team member’s adorable Dachshund x Jack Russell! 🐶✨
Baxter had a brilliant time sniffing around, exploring every corner, and giving out lots of friendly licks (and receiving plenty of cuddles too!) 💕🐕 The smiles and laughter he brought with him truly brightened everyone’s day!

🎶 What a wonderful afternoon at St Thomas! 🎶

Our residents had an absolutely fantastic time with our talented musical entertainer, Doug Loveridge ! 💫 Doug put on an amazing show as always, filling the room with classic tunes that everyone knows and loves. 🎤💖
There were smiles all around, plenty of singing along, and even a few dance moves too! 🕺💃

Thank you, Doug, for bringing so much joy and energy to our afternoon, we can’t wait to have you back again soon! 🌟

What an absolutely brilliant time we had at our Rock, Roll and Remember Disco here at St Thomas! 💃🕺 The music was loud, the disco lights were flashing, enjoyed some party food .. and the drinks were flowing! 🍹🎶

Our residents danced, sang their hearts out, and had a rockin’ good time from start to finish. 🎤🥳 And just when we thought the night couldn’t get any better... Elvis Presley himself made an appearance! 👑🎸

Residents, patients and colleagues got into the Halloween spirit of things by creating beautiful autumnal displays with painted and carved pumpkins, flowers and wreaths.

Many of our care homes and hospitals hosted fun-filled Halloween events with delicious treats, mocktails, live music entertainment, costume competitions and community celebrations.

It's safe to say that everyone had a spooktacular time. 👻

❤️ Arts & Crafts for Remembrance Day ❤️

Our wonderful residents at St Thomas have been busy getting creative this week, making beautiful poppies for our Remembrance Day display. 🌺

Using sponges, they printed a lovely rich red colour 🎨 and crafted some smaller poppies out of cupcake cases, such clever ideas and steady hands! 🧁✨

We’re so proud of everyone’s efforts and can’t wait to share the finished display in honour of all those we remember. 🙏

👻🎃 Bewitching Tricks and Spooky Treats 👻🎃

Springvale Court Care Home, in Wrekenton, , was a den of ghoulish activity as the home’s spooky Halloween Adams Family got into full swing.

Colleagues embraced the spirit of Halloween by dressing up as The Addams Family. Morticia, Gomez, Pugsley, Wednesday, Uncle Fester, Cousin Itt and Lurch all visited Trinity Square in Gateshead town centre to hand out goodie bags for children and adults, and everyone had the opportunity to have their photo taken with the Addams Family.

General Manager, Gemma Rooney, shared: “Our staff love any excuse for fancy dress day! – we’ve all had a brilliant time.”

The team at Springvale Court commented: “It has been such a fun day. It was wonderful to see everyone go to so much effort to get into the Halloween spirit. And seeing the smiles on everyone’s faces’’.

🔍 Thursday Night Murder Club at Caldy Manor 🕵️‍♀️

It was an evening to remember at Caldy Manor Care Home on the as residents, colleagues and friends from Heswall & District Ladies Circle turned detectives, suspects and stars in the home’s very own Thursday Murder Club-themed evening.

Inspired by Richard Osman’s much-loved mystery novels, there were hilarious plot twists and some truly Oscar-worthy performances, the night was packed with laughs and fantastic acting from everyone involved.

A huge thank you to all, the experience was a roaring success.

Safe to say… no one saw the ending coming! 😉

🏅 Silver Success for Hugh Myddelton at Enfield in Bloom 2025 🌸

We’re happy to share that Hugh Myddelton House Care Home in won Silver in the Best Communal Gardens category at the Enfield in Bloom 2025.

The team proudly received their certificate from the Mayor of Enfield, Margaret Greer, at the Chickenshed Theatre – a joyful moment for everyone involved.

A big thank you to all who helped make the gardens so beautiful this year, especially volunteer Pat and Resident Ambassador Rosa.

Jade Shea, General Manager at the home, said: “Our garden is not just a beautiful space it’s a source of comfort, activity and pride for everyone here. This award belongs to our entire community who have worked so hard to make it flourish.”

The Enfield in Bloom competition, held annually, honours the best in gardening and environmental efforts across the borough.

🎉 Rose Water Place Supports Local Fishing Charity 🎉

Rose Water Place Care Home in recently presented Cast A Thought charity with a cheque for £1,260 in support of their Fish and Chat project, which promotes mental health and wellbeing through the therapeutic benefits of angling.

Cast A Thought CIC empowers children, young people and adults through accessible and inclusive fishing activities that encourage mental wellness and connection with nature.

Colleagues and residents welcomed Dave and Helen from Cast A Thought to a small gathering at the home to celebrate and hand over the cheque, awarded on behalf of Barchester's Charitable Foundation.

Hadrian Rodriguez, General Manager at Rose Water Place, shared: “We are always keen to show as much support as we can to local charities and Cast A Thought ensures that every cast of the line brings hope, healing and togetherness in the community.”
