Let’s take ourselves back to Valentine’s Day a day that is especially difficult for some of our residents who have lost their beloved ones, the ones they chose to spend their lives with. It’s important that we give them the time of day to speak fondly of them whilst we listen to their memories. We created a memorial tree with these names.
We also asked our residents for knowledge on a happy relationship, some of them defo gave us some good answers!
We had a craft team come in to help the residents create a picture and we made our own sewing crafts to decorate. 🩷❤️

A special mention to those of you who are still following us who have lost your loves whilst in our care. RIP ❤️‍🩹

✨Jan - March update ✨

We’d like to apologise for our lack of social media upkeep as we know lots of you like to know what we get up to at old Raven house. You can expect to see weekly updates going forward!

We hope all our lovely families have had a smashing start to 2026 and the year brings much positivity!

Now back to our residents…
We’ve kept our minds sharp by playing a variety of games and bingo.
Our bodies moving in Sonals exercise classes. We’ve enjoyed ourselves socially by attending our entertainers afternoons and now we’re all looking forward to some sun ☀️🌷

This week we have been overjoyed and blessed with 10s of bunches of flowers from our local Sainsbury's. We can’t express our gratitude enough, thank you so much 🤍

We recruited some helpers to join in the lovely sunshine to arrange some bouquets to their liking. We then spread them around the home filling it with colour! Making sure to put bunches in residents rooms who aren’t able to get about as much or prefer their privacy too 🫶🏻
Inevitably we ran out of vases, so to express our appreciation to our staff we handed the remaining bunches out to our hard workers.

In honour of Mother’s Day we felt it was important to reminisce with our residents about their mothers who have passed, one simple question of “If you could speak to your mother now, what would you say?” Sparked some heartfelt and insightful conversations.

We celebrated this special day by welcoming families of our residents to join in making flower bouquets and enjoy some afternoon tea. The bouquets created are as beautiful as the women we celebrate 🥰

This week we are treating ourselves to some Garden centre visits, to enjoy the Christmas displays, and maybe a hot chocolate or coffee and cake. We kicked off yesterday with a visit to our most local garden centre, Conkers, and today we went to the farthest away we are planning to visit, Keydell in Horndean, to enjoy the wonderful Winter Woodland walk. By the end of the week we are hoping that everyone who would like to visit a garden centre will have been able to.

Last week we spent the whole week celebrating our cultural diversity. Our lovely team shared their favourite (delicious!) foods, traditional costumes, something of their homelands and, on Wednesday we were treated to Nepalese and Indian dance. We also asked everyone to tell us why they are proud of their culture or nation. There were some lovely thoughtful messages posted on our board, and the best will be getting a prize! This is our third annual celebration, which we kicked off with a quintessential English afternoon tea. A special week. Thankyou so much to everyone who joined in!

Today we spent time doing craft activities remembering those who fought for us in the world wars, and all wars since. So many people wanted to be part of this activity. After lunch we enjoyed watching some of our staff dancing their traditional dance as part of our celebration of our cultural diversity(more of that in a separate post), and finally we loved singing along and dancing with Eleanor, our Entertainer this week

Remember Remember the 5th of November.... we will because of the fun we had! The morning was spent doing crafts, and the afternoon dancing to a great entertainer. Then, a record number of residents gathered for hot dogs and pumpkin soup before the main event. Fireworks!
