Just back from a lovely seaside trip to Bournemouth. A place that many of our residents remember fondly from years gone by. Our driver was able get us right down to the seafront which gave the residents an opportunity to enjoy a picnic lunch on the very edge of the sandy beach with views out to sea and in the shadow of the large viewing wheel. After lunch some residents ventured down the pier and into the amusements, whilst other took the opportunity to stroll along the lively sea front before taking a more peaceful walk through the Winter Gardens. And of course no trip to the seaside would be complete without ice cream. On the journey back all the residents agreed that "It had been a good day"

This weeks outing for the residents at Old Raven House was to Hollycombe Steam. The steam driven fairground is a popular venue for our residents where they are able to enjoy the sights and sounds of years gone by with all the rides and attractions being driven by steam. Everyone took a trip on the scenic railway with its gentle steam train rattle and beautiful views across the south downs. Some of the more adventurous took rides on the carousel and swing boats. Our timing was perfect because as we took a well earn break for afternoon tea before leaving the weather also broke and we avoid a heavy shower.

Today was the last of our month of picnic trips. This time to the lovely Vaughan Millennium Community Orchard in Hartley Wintney. After a slightly cool start we were not disappointed as the sun broke through and made for idea picnic weather. The Orchard is a lovely peaceful haven on the edge of Hartley Wintney a bit of a hidden gem. The warm weather and the discovery of a discarded football allowed some residents their chance to have a friendly kick around.

One resident was heard to say "What a lovely day out "

Today a small group of residents took a morning stroll through the beautiful forest at Alice Holt. It was certainly warm and as they walked everyone took the opportunity to identify some of the wild flowers and enjoy the peace and quiet.
Even under the cover of the trees it was still very warm so we stuck to one of the shorter trails. We finished the walk and sat for a while in the shade with everyone's efforts being rewarded by a delicious ice cream cone

It lovely when we are able to bring people into the home to share a skill or hobby with the residents. Today we were doubly blessed with visits from Charlotte who came to encourage some of our green fingered residents to plant Sunflower seeds in their own individual pots for a friendly sunflower growing competition.

We also had a first visit from Teresa from "Make do and Mend Sewing Club" who came to start what we hope will be a regular sewing group. For some it was a chance to learn a new skill and for others an opportunity to put a skill of a lifetime back into practise. https://www.facebook.com/teresa.pytches

Yesterday a few residents enjoyed a nostalgic return to the days of Steam with a trip on the Watercress Line travelling from Alton. The sun shone and the train rumbled past beautiful countryside and farmland on route to Aylesford. After a short stop in the picturesque station. Our return journey was delayed by a technical issue with the engine but even that didn't dampen our travellers enthusiasm
