Here are some photos from the rest of the week's garden centre visits. 5 days, 5 different garden centres and lots of wide eyed wonder at the amazing, extravagant displays, not to mention some delicious cakes with our afternoon tea to enjoy!

This week we are treating ourselves to some Garden centre visits, to enjoy the Christmas displays, and maybe a hot chocolate or coffee and cake. We kicked off yesterday with a visit to our most local garden centre, Conkers, and today we went to the farthest away we are planning to visit, Keydell in Horndean, to enjoy the wonderful Winter Woodland walk. By the end of the week we are hoping that everyone who would like to visit a garden centre will have been able to.

Last week we spent the whole week celebrating our cultural diversity. Our lovely team shared their favourite (delicious!) foods, traditional costumes, something of their homelands and, on Wednesday we were treated to Nepalese and Indian dance. We also asked everyone to tell us why they are proud of their culture or nation. There were some lovely thoughtful messages posted on our board, and the best will be getting a prize! This is our third annual celebration, which we kicked off with a quintessential English afternoon tea. A special week. Thankyou so much to everyone who joined in!

Today we spent time doing craft activities remembering those who fought for us in the world wars, and all wars since. So many people wanted to be part of this activity. After lunch we enjoyed watching some of our staff dancing their traditional dance as part of our celebration of our cultural diversity(more of that in a separate post), and finally we loved singing along and dancing with Eleanor, our Entertainer this week

Remember Remember the 5th of November.... we will because of the fun we had! The morning was spent doing crafts, and the afternoon dancing to a great entertainer. Then, a record number of residents gathered for hot dogs and pumpkin soup before the main event. Fireworks!

Just back from a lovely seaside trip to Bournemouth. A place that many of our residents remember fondly from years gone by. Our driver was able get us right down to the seafront which gave the residents an opportunity to enjoy a picnic lunch on the very edge of the sandy beach with views out to sea and in the shadow of the large viewing wheel. After lunch some residents ventured down the pier and into the amusements, whilst other took the opportunity to stroll along the lively sea front before taking a more peaceful walk through the Winter Gardens. And of course no trip to the seaside would be complete without ice cream. On the journey back all the residents agreed that "It had been a good day"

This weeks outing for the residents at Old Raven House was to Hollycombe Steam. The steam driven fairground is a popular venue for our residents where they are able to enjoy the sights and sounds of years gone by with all the rides and attractions being driven by steam. Everyone took a trip on the scenic railway with its gentle steam train rattle and beautiful views across the south downs. Some of the more adventurous took rides on the carousel and swing boats. Our timing was perfect because as we took a well earn break for afternoon tea before leaving the weather also broke and we avoid a heavy shower.
