CLOSURE - FINAL CLEARANCE!!
Due to the charity's closure, we are clearing all of our last stock, with tshirts from 50p and our last few remaining fidget toys, pens, bags, and badges from 10p!
Every purchase saves the insolvency company sending branded items to landfill, so please rehome these last bits.
https://www.traumabreakthrough.org/shop/
While stocks last!
(We will stop sending orders on 27th March 2025, or sooner if stock is cleared, and we will do our best to donate any usable surplus to other charities)

This is the hardest announcement we have ever had to make.

Since 2013 Trauma Breakthrough has provided vital specialist mental health services at no or low cost to hundreds of people across the South West every year. However, along with all charities we are facing the most challenging funding environment most of us have ever known. Since 2020 we have seen demand increase by 2750% - from 2 or 3 a month to over 100 every month.
Despite the fact that over 80% of our service-users have been referred by NHS mental health services and GP surgeries, we get absolutely no funding from the NHS or Local Government. At the same time, many other funding bodies are closing their programmes or changing the types of things that they will support. As a result it is no longer financially possible for us to continue, and the trustees have taken the difficult decision to close the charity.
All of our counselling, psychotherapy and support services will come to an end by 7th March 2025, and the charity as a whole will close by the end of March.

Most of the people who come to us have very complex mental health needs. Often, they have been referred to mental health services or have presented at Accident and Emergency Departments many times, and typically they have been trying to get suitable help for years or even decades without success. Whilst we are doing everything we can to identify alternative sources of support, there is almost nothing available, and we are deeply concerned that many people will just fall through the gaps in current mental health provision.

We are heartbroken for our service-users who will now not get the help they so desperately need, and for our amazing and dedicated staff team who have devoted so much time and energy in helping survivors of trauma to recover.

It's International Volunteer Day!

If you've ever wanted to help support a charity with your time, or get your team involved in some volunteering, whether for a Challenge Event (like the Bath Half Marathon), through practical support like befriending or gardening, or through probono input like trusteeship/consultancy/marketing, there are so many ways to get involved.

Drop us a message to see how you can help :-)

We still really need a few volunteers to help out with a street collection this Friday, 29th November, from 1pm - 5pm. With it being Black Friday, and the first full day of the Bath Christmas Market, we expect there to be plenty of people out and about!

You'll be chatting to members of the public about Trauma Breakthrough and encouraging them to make a donation in support of the charity. Whether you can spare an hour, or the whole afternoon, we'd be so grateful for your support.

It really will make a huge difference to survivors of trauma and abuse.

Please email Annabel (fundraising@traumabreakthrough.org) if you are able to help.

Another day, another visitor... only yesterday's surprise visitor was a little more fluffy!

This gorgeous cat wandered in through reception at our Support Centre and made itself at home on various team members' desks (and sniffed out where we hide the Dreamies too! 😂)
Stayed there sprawled on the desk getting fuss between emails for a large chunk of the day!

When you were abused, neglected or maltreated as a child control over your life was stolen from you. Even as an adult you can still feel powerless.
The truth is that regaining control isnt easy. You can't control everything, you may not be able to control the big things, but you can control some things.
Today if you are able to take control over one thing in your life, no matter how small (even making a conscious decision to prioritise sleep and an early night), it's a start. You can gradually build on that start and begin to take back the power that was stolen from you.

Spring has sprung! And our Support Centre garden space was looking a little wild...
Huge thank you to the wonderful GoodGym crew led by Bath Conner who joined us this week to help clear some of the garden space so it can be used as a quiet and reflective space for our service users to use and engage with nature over the summer.
Also thank you to the Five Arches parkrun team for loaning us garden equipment for the job.
True community effort all round!
And GoodGym will be back in a couple of weeks for some finishing touches too :-)

Huge well done to our Ops Manager, Holly, who despite not yet being able to run a mile, is going to be jogging 1 mile every day, rain or shine, to fundraise for Trauma Breakthrough - which is pretty amazing!
