Sacred & Compassionate Ceremonies

Sacred & Compassionate Ceremonies Hello and welcome to the page of Celebrant Sam Radford, home to heart-led & love filled ceremonies. I loved those years. With love & many blessings
✨❤️✨❤️

I am very proud of my Bristolian roots; I was born at the old Southmead Hospital, lived & worked locally in North Bristol for many years. I cared for my brother who had Downs Syndrome & learning disabilities alongside my young family and work, until the end of his life in 2019. I have a long career in care, mostly working in services for adults with learning disabilities often with challenging, co

mplex medical and physical support needs. I followed this working as a Freelance Advocate for adults with care and support needs; varying from acquired brain injury, learning disability, parents in child care proceedings and those living with dementia. I worked at Southmead Hospital for 8 years as the Hospital Carer Liaison Worker, supporting family carers to navigate treatment pathways for the person they cared for, liaise with health professionals and plan towards discharge pathways. I am unsure at what point in my life, my interest in officiating funerals and weddings arrived, I noted it and the seeds were sewn over many years I do believe of working with so many amazing people and supporting them with critical care, ED admissions & end of life. I trained to be an Interfaith Minister/Celebrant with the Onespirit Interfaith Foundation in 2021 completing an in-depth & rich enquiry of two years training into spiritual development & interfaith ministry training. This involved deep healing, a committed practice of inner growth, sacred practice, deep listening, creating ceremony, crafting rituals and meaningful exploration of many faiths. I now live in Bath, serving the South West for the creation of personalised ceremonies to truly reflect the people you love. If you would like to discuss how we can work together, please do call or message me for a chat.

Beautiful evening reflections reflecting on a tender day spent yesterday sharing lovely memories of my dear brother Chris with a colleague.

Sometimes I skip over the pain of my grief as I go about my every day-ness of life.

My colleague reminded me that 7 years is still very early days for me to navigating these emotions.

So much has changed since he died.

I reflected upon how quiet my life is now as for so long our home was a hub of activity with Chris’ and his support workers energy filling the air, so much coming and going, so much change, so much laughter and chaos which was often hilarious beyond the extreme situations we found ourselves in especially around his end of life care.

There’s definitely time for the stillness as I was exhausted.

It’s the humanness I miss, the love, the affection and the care.

So much to be grateful for, we had 56 wonderful years of Chris or Buddy and he is everywhere and in everything now.

OneSpirit recently shared this post on its socials and I am sharing their words as “interfaith ministry” is often misunderstood.

It is not about blending religions together.
It is not about saying all paths are the same.
It is not about having the perfect words.

It is about presence.

It is the ability to stand beside someone in the depth of their own beliefs, whether religious, spiritual, humanist or unsure, without needing to change them.

It asks for humility.
It asks for listening.
It asks for steadiness when the difference is real.

At OneSpirit, interfaith ministry is less about abstract theology and more about how we show up for people in life’s most meaningful moments.

I have been busy preparing for the mini retreat that Molly & I are planning on Saturday 20th June at Westbury Wildlife Project.

Molly and I spent time there basking in its energy, emerging blooms of spring and the gentleness it offers your soul.

Our mini retreat is focused on self care into summer, an intimate space to honour all that’s gone before and allow time for all that’s to come.

With meditation, movement, storytelling, reflection and journaling prompts this promises to be the first of a series of sessions offered in collaboration with celebrancy & creative arts therapy.

Exciting? Yes 🩷
Nerve racking ! Yes 🤣

All will be as it’s meant to be ✨🩵✨

Please note attendance is by pre-booking only.

Please be sure to contact Molly and book in: molly@creative-therapy.co.uk

Please see my pinned posts for further information.

Have a beautiful day ✨💖✨

I spent time observing this beautiful swan 🦢 nesting yesterday and how gently she tendered the nest 🪹

She was adept at eating the odd fly 🪰 that landed upon her, after a considerable time of eyeing them up!

It moved me deeply how content she was sat upon her eggs 🥚 in the nest she had created for their arrival, exposed to the elements and predators such as the local rats 🐀

I chatted to a gentleman called Dave, who told me that last year they had to nest further down the river due to the all the rain as this area in town the swan had chosen to nest in was inaccessible.

We spoke of our love of “bridges”, “viaducts”, “Aquaducts”, nature, sentient beings and the beauty of spring ✨🌼✨

Dave was lovely and said “I could chat to you all day” ✨🙏✨ Dave was equally lovely to chat too and had the firmest hand shake ever!

This looks really resourceful, a new podcast from British Red Cross - Bridging Divides to return to compassion and humanity…

The role of the British Red Cross in Bridging Divides

As part of the world’s largest humanitarian movement, we’re guided by a set of principles that shape how we act. These principles enable us to reach across divides, to support everyone who needs us, whenever they need us. At their core is our commitment to not take sides – instead we stand for humanity.

Like many people across the UK, we’re worried about the growing feeling of division in our society. So together, let’s learn how to stand for humanity and what we can do to show up with compassion in divided times.
