Bright Blue Yoga Hi, my name is Georgina Bassford and I teach yoga classes and workshops in Bath.

I teach a variety of day and evening yoga classes in Bath including Slow Hatha Flow, Move.Relax.Restore, Yang-Yin, Restorative Yin, Pregnancy and Postnatal Mother & Baby Yoga classes as well as Womb to World Essential Birth Preparation for couples. I occasionally teach weekend workshops and Saturday classes and have a portfolio of regular and one-off private clients.

Yoga classes in Bath still on this week!

Don’t forget Pregnancy Yoga is still on tonight (7:30pm) and tomorrow night (6pm) - with chocolate chip and almond biscuits.

We’ll be using birth balls in classes this week so remember to bring a birth or fit ball to class if you have one. Don’t worry, I have spares for borrowing 🤩

And tomorrow night’s Days End Yoga will continue with our hip theme but we’ll make sure to leave a good 25 minutes for a guided Yoga Nidra 💤

P R E G N A N C Y * Y O G A

💙Pregnancy yoga classes not only put you in a space where it is easy to meet and connect with other pregnancy mums, but you also get super duper physical and mental preparation for your birth.

💙Additionally, in classes we often talk about tips and do practices to help alleviate common pregnancy ailments, reduce with chronic stress and improve sleep. I’ve lost count of times someone has told me that they sleep better after yoga. This isn’t a surprise to me. If you relax mind and body deeply, stimulate the parasympathetic arm of the nervous system, then sleep can more easily come.

💙And did I mention the quality herbal teas and homemade snacks?!

There are so many reasons why people turn to yoga in pregnancy. Here are some of them…

To fill a hole in their movement lives

To meet and connect with local women in similar circumstances

To prepare the body and mind for labour

To enjoy and feel good in your body

To heal or deal with pregnancy niggles

To find some peace and quiet (and avoid bedtime with toddlers for one night a week!)

To learn how to deeply relax

To learn tools and techniques for labour

And so many more things I’m sure.

I teach two classes a week in Newbridge, Bath

Wednesdays 7:30-9pm
Thursdays 6-7:30pm

Just got round to sharing these. The weekend looked to be pretty wet as we were planning the weekend but actually down in Devon we had a sunny Friday and double dip at Budleigh Salterton and then Saturday was warm too, so we ventured to Sharrah Pool on the River Dart. Little bit of heaven. The water was so clear!

Slow Down Friday Yoga (online)

Fri 25th July
5:30-6:30pm

This month we’ll recognise that we’re still more or less at the peak energy of the year, a few weeks past the Summer Solstice but still long days and short nights. Still swirling fiery energy around us - and for sure the sun knows it’s summer!

So we’ll be looking at different ways to cool the furnace and be respectful of the seasonal energy high partly by cultivating an awareness of water energy in the body - and using visualisation and breathwork to support this.

This class is your opportunity for an hour of meditative movement followed by stillness. It’s a smorgasbord of delicious dynamic and peaceful restorative practices all rolled up in a tidy 60 minute online (live or recorded) package.

Always included: hand (hasta) mudra, a little breathwork, a flowing asana sequence, one or two long-held yin poses, some restful, restorative poses and a guided meditation and relaxation.

The class will help you to

- deeply relax the body
- feel better in your body
- quieten a busy mind
- improve sleep
- find emotional balance
- boost the immune system
- reduce symptoms of stress

Certainly here in Bath it was a scorching weekend so a double dip at on Saturday morning was called for, with my old Uni friend who was visiting for the weekend.

Then a 5k walk from yesterday with a stop at the for a cold drink and a dip in the Avon after.

That seemed to get me through the weekend without burning up.

Last week we moved our Thursday evening classes downstairs where it was a much more bearable temperature - and thanks for those handful of people who after classes helped to herd a lost baby seagull out of the church space!

And now it’s a little cooler. Thank goodness.

Every year, mostly in the Spring and Summer months, I get asked to do a handful of yoga sessions at hen weekends.

And I don’t remember ever not loving every moment of these classes. What a pleasure to offer such a loving, fun and healthy practice to a group of women who are together to celebrate love, fun and friendship.

It generally means an outdoor session in a beautiful house and garden, with a group of women who are all committed to supporting love and friendship.

SUMMER BREAK INFO

So a heads up - all my daytime yoga classes will be on a 5 week break for the summer from and including the last week in July and all of August. They will start up again on Mon 1 Sep.

(Note that they continue into the first week of the school summer holidays which is a first for me!)

The evening classes will have a shorter break. There will be no classes for the first three weeks in August, so classes on as normal all through the whole of July and then after the 3 week break, start again from Mon 25 August.

Hope I’ve got that right and it makes sense 🫣

Note that there is a restorative yoga class on tomorrow which has a few places still available to book, and also there will be an online Slow Flow Yoga class on Friday 25th July.
