Bright Blue Yoga Hi, my name is Georgina Bassford and I teach yoga classes and workshops in Bath.

I teach a variety of day and evening yoga classes in Bath including Slow Hatha Flow, Move.Relax.Restore, Yang-Yin, Restorative Yin, Pregnancy and Postnatal Mother & Baby Yoga classes as well as Womb to World Essential Birth Preparation for couples. I occasionally teach weekend workshops and Saturday classes and have a portfolio of regular and one-off private clients.

💙Pregnancy Yoga are the usual times:
Wed 17th 7:30-9pm
Thu 18th 6-7:30pm

💙Slow Flow Yoga (full with wait list) is
Wed 17th 9:30-10:30am

💙Days End Yoga (3 spaces left) is
Thu 18th 8-9pm

✨Unlike alot of Bath residents, I am partial to a trip to our Christmas market.

✨But can I say the best time to go is on a Monday evening. So quiet, so pleasant. Had so many nice chats with stall holders, and lots of 10% off for resident deals.

🌀 The winter spiral circle is always special. Arriving into the warmth of the yurt and the anticipation of gathering together to reflect on the year that’s been and call in what our hearts are seeking for the year ahead.

🌀 If you’ve never done one of these, essentially you walk with a tealight into the centre of the spiral and then light your candle from the mother or central candle, placing it in a holder amongst the greenery on your way out.

🌀 It is more than this tho. It’s community and compassion, stillness tears and laughter. It’s a balm and a jolt. It’s medicine.

🌀 especially poignant for me this year as this may be the last for a while as Louise moves in new difecthkbs with her women’s circles.

🌀 I’ve made my peace with that. I’m ready for something new and open to endings and new beginnings

A thoroughly delightful and deeply restful couple of hours in the Swainswick Yurt yesterday afternoon watching the sun sink and the sky darken from the warmth and intimacy of the yurt

My Yurt Yoga and Relaxation Mini Retreats are 2 or 3 hours long depending on which date you choose and are designed to offer you a break in the fast-paced highway of life.

Here in the countryside, you are encouraged to slow down by shedding the sounds and sights of city life, and tuning in to the sounds of nature (owls featured yesterday ☺️) and your own inner wisdom starts to make itself heard.

There are 7 dates next year which are now bookable, two of them are already fully booked but there are still plenty of spaces available, including, for the first time, sessions for pregnant women and one for postnatal mums and their babies ☺️ (pre-crawling pls for obvious reasons)

💤 We welcomed Gemma Farrar from to our postnatal mum and baby yoga class yesterday.

💤 Sleep is always a hot topic when we chat at the beginning and end of class and Gemma had some really useful advice for us.

💤 One thing she suggested during night feeds is to make sure baby is actively feeding. If baby nods off it reduces their ‘sleep pressure’, making it harder for them to nod off to sleep when you actually want them to.

💤 So blow on their toes, sing an upbeat song, put the light on so you can properly see their eyes (don’t worry she assures us it won’t interfere with their ability to sleep), and make sure they have a good, full feed with no nodding off on the boob/bottle 😁

My new ‘Radiant Transition’ Peri-menopause & Post-menopause Yoga classes have been met with enthusiasm. There is a need!

The first session in November focused on strength and the next, on Monday 1st December, will look at the importance of the breath and how we can leverage easy and accessible practices to make huge shifts in our physical and emotional bodies.

I’m afraid this one is fully booked but there are still spaces in the remaining Monday evening sessions in 2026 . . .

❄️Bit nippy out there today. But totally glorious too - so much sun and blue sky to set off the frosty plants in my garden.

❄️Just make sure to wrap up warm when you set off tonight for your yoga class. The church should be warm enough but it’s always a good idea at this time of year to layer up - especially for the deep relaxation part. No one wants chilly toes when you’re chilling out!

☺️It was a pleasure to welcome Rosie Sampson from to my Postnatal Mum & Baby Yoga class recently.

💙It wasn’t that long ago she was in one of my classes as a non-pregnant student, then a pregnancy student carrying twins, then coming to this very same Postnatal class with said twins 👶 👶

☺️She’s now back to work - as a pelvic floor physio specialist - and was able to answer lots of questions as you can imagine!

💙There is always 15 minutes of tea, biscuit (nuts and dark chocolate) and chat at the end of every class and occasionally I invite someone in to share their knowledge.

‘ I N N E R W A R M T H ‘

It’s a bit wet and wintry out there. It makes me think we need to focus on our inner landscape during this month’s class. We’ll find some inner warmth with our usual mix of yoga practices, all with the theme of slowing down of course, after what at least for me, has been another busy week. Let’s slow down together!

This class is your opportunity for an hour of meditative movement followed by stillness. It’s a smorgasbord of delicious dynamic and peaceful restorative practices all rolled up in a tidy 60 minute online (live or recorded) package.

Always included: hand (hasta) mudra, a little breathwork, a flowing asana sequence, one or two long-held yin poses, some restful, restorative poses and a guided meditation and relaxation.

The class will help you to

- deeply relax the body
- feel better in your body
- quieten a busy mind
- improve sleep
- emotional balance
- boost the immune system
- reduce symptoms of stress

No prior experience is necessary ☺️

Classes are so much more than moving and stretching. They are about taking time for yourself, being still, connecting with others, finding the breath, learning how your body feels and how to prepare for labour - and heal from it.
