We had a great time at the BHS Coaches Conference in Cheshire on Monday! 🙌

It was brilliant to see so many passionate coaches come together. From engaging panel discussions to inspiring demonstrations and plenty of thought-provoking conversations with various coaches throughout the day. And not to mention some familiar faces repping the Centre10 merch too!🤩💙

We’re proud to be building a strong partnership with the BHS and are really looking forward to collaborating on more training events together in 2026! 💪🐴

PART 3 of "Refresh. Reignite. Reconnect." Coaching with Authenticity with the wonderful Mia Palles-Clark🐎

The final day of our Centre10 Autumn Camp was all about reflection and connection.
We had the privilege of hearing from Mia Palles-Clark (Head of Equestrian Sport at Millfield School and British Showjumper), who delivered an incredible session on what it truly means to be a coach in the equestrian industry. She explored authenticity, leadership, and being at your best for your riders.

This camp reminded us what Centre10 is all about:
🌟 Supporting each other in a profession that can often feel lonely
🌟 Sharing energy, ideas, and challenges
🌟 Building a community of coaches who want to grow together

We called this camp: “Refresh. Reignite. Reconnect.”… and that’s exactly what happened! 💫

Thank you to everyone who took part and made this camp so special, if you would like to be a part of the amazing community of growth and learning at Centre10 then get in touch - we have another Spring Camp with your name on it!🌸🐣🌱

PART 2: of "Refresh. Reignite. Reconnect." Powerful Performance Conversations💬

Day two at our Centre10 Autumn Camp, we came together at the beautiful Kendleshire Golf Club for a deep dive into one of the most powerful parts of coaching: performance conversations.

It’s easy to think more time in the saddle = more progress. But what if the opposite is true?
Steffi Dampney helped us explore how better conversations can create:
👉 Faster learning with less time on the horse
👉 More confidence and independence in riders
👉 Space for coaches to have greater impact without burnout

The session challenged us to re-think how we communicate, not just what we coach. By asking the right questions and listening deeply, we can accelerate rider progress while strengthening relationships.

We also zoomed out into the bigger picture - looking at stress recovery and lifestyle factors. Because how we sleep, eat, recover, and manage stress doesn’t just affect us as people, it directly shapes our ability to push harder and perform at our best as coaches and athletes.

The conversations were honest, energising, and packed with practical takeaways. This is what Centre10 is all about: coaches supporting coaches, learning together, and raising the standard of performance coaching in equestrian sports☺️👐🏼💬

PART 1 of Refresh. Reignite. Reconnect: Contrast Session led by Rose Unwin 🌿🔥❄️

We had an incredible time at our Centre10 Autumn Camp for Advanced Accredited Coaches!

The weekend kicked off with a powerful Contrast Session combining hot/cold exposure with guided breath-work.

By combining hot/cold exposure with guided breath-work, we explored how the body and mind respond under pressure. The goal? To train resilience, expand stress tolerance, and master the balance between strain and recovery.

It was more than just a physical challenge — it was about stepping outside comfort zones, embracing discomfort, and discovering tools that can help both the coaches and their riders thrive under stress🧠❄️🧊🔥♨

Good evening!

We have an amazing opportunity available for some lucky riders out there!! 🍀🍀🍀

We are currently looking for some volunteers for our upcoming APEC Advanced Coaches Course... 🤓📚

Would YOU like to be a volunteer for the afternoon of Tuesday 7th October at Bailbrook House Hotel in Bath?! 👊👊

We will be covering elements of Personality and the coaches will be working on their skills of Coaching Conversations - so it'd be great to get some real-life riders for them to practise with! To confirm, this is all un-mounted, so no horses required.
We anticipate that although the focus on the day will be on developing the coaches skills, you will also get significant benefit from attending.

We will need you at Bailbrook House Hotel, Bath by 1:15pm and stay until around 5pm. No horses are needed, over 18's only and you will need your own transport.
This is a completely FREE opportunity, and you may also get the chance to work with one of us on a one-to-one basis as part of a sport psychology demo session.

Fill in the form below to sign up to be a volunteer and we will be in contact soon!

Here's what we covered in "HEADSPACE UNDER PRESSURE" ...and what to expect from Session 3: Using the Power of Breath-work

Today’s live lunchtime session with Charlie Unwin tackled one of the biggest challenges riders face: performing under pressure without letting nerves or overthinking get in the way.

In Session 2, we explored:
✔️ Why the mind becomes noisy and scattered in high-pressure situations, and what causes that mental “clutter.”
✔️ How to help riders turn down the mental noise and dial up their clarity and focus — so they can perform with calm, confident precision.
✔️ A practical tool coaches can use to train riders to manage nerves before they even show up in competition or stressful lessons.
✔️ How to help riders stay instinctive instead of freezing or second-guessing themselves when it matters most.

Coaches shared how much they related to these struggles in their own riders, and how powerful it was to see tools they could start using straight away.

Don’t worry if you missed it — you can still join us for Session 3: Using the Power of Breath-work
📅 Thursday 17th July @ 12:00 PM

Breath-work isn’t just “deep breathing” — it’s a powerful, versatile tool for regulating the nervous system and unlocking better performance.

In our final lunchtime session, you’ll learn:
✔️ Why breath-work is different from simply breathing, and how subtle techniques can lead to big changes in your riders’ mental and physical states.
✔️ How to spot signs of a dysregulated nervous system in your riders — before it affects their performance.
✔️ How different breath-work exercises achieve very different results (e.g., calming down vs. activating focus) and how to choose the right tool for the situation.

This session will show you how to integrate breath-work into your coaching so your riders can manage nerves, recover faster, and perform at their best — consistently.

🚨Here's what we covered in "More Connection, More Impact" ...and what to expect from Session 2: Headspace Under Pressure🚨

We had a powerful conversation about one of the most common challenges coaches face: getting your message to truly land with your riders...
In Session 1, we explored:
✔️ Why communication often breaks down between coach and rider — and how to recognise it
✔️ How to adapt your style to reach different riders more effectively
✔️ Practical tools to build deeper trust, improve clarity, and maximise your coaching impact

We heard some fantastic stories from coaches who have already started applying these ideas — and the feedback has been incredible.

Don’t worry if you missed it — you can still join us for Session 2: Headspace Under Pressure
📅 Wednesday 16th July @ 12:00 PM

Pressure is an unavoidable part of equestrian sport — but it doesn’t have to derail your riders.

In this session, you’ll discover our powerful tool for helping riders manage nerves and stay mentally sharp, no matter the situation.

You’ll learn:
✔️ Why the mind becomes noisy and scattered under pressure
✔️ A simple but highly effective technique to turn down the mental “noise” and dial up clarity and focus, so your riders can think clearly and respond calmly
✔️ How to help riders shift from overthinking to instinctive performance, even in high-stress moments
✔️ How to spot when your rider’s headspace is becoming unhelpful — and what to do to help them regain composure
✔️ Ways to train riders proactively so they can access this calmer, clearer state themselves

This isn’t just about coping — it’s about giving your riders the tools they need to thrive under pressure, stay confident, and perform at their best when it really counts.

About Centre10

Centre10 was founded in 2017 by leading Sport Psychology experts Charlie Unwin and Sarah Huntley to offer equestrian coaches and riders scientifically-backed sport and performance applied psychology training. Our unique courses in applied performance psychology provide individuals with the enhanced insights and practical methodologies needed to develop the mental strength and resilience required to be successful in sport.

We offer three applied psychology courses:

APEC Advanced is our six-month workshop-based programme. Delegates on this programme complete an intensive three-day workshop in Bath to begin the course, and then undergo six months of online learning before a final presentation workshop to finish the course. This programme is fully accredited and endorsed by the British Horse Society. BS and BD coaches can also use the workshop days towards their coach CPD.

APEC Foundation is our 12-week online programme. This has been designed for those coaches who would like a shorter course or looking for an introduction into how equestrian coaches can use sport psychology with their riders. The APEC Foundation programme is a small-group online-training course specifically designed for equestrian coaches.
