Our community is vibrant – a place that welcomes people with open arms like a big family. We are proudly not for profit and our home is a happy place to be. Our array of activities means we can brighten everyone’s lives, whether it’s getting stuck into something new or enjoying a favourite hobby, we have something for everyone and we aim to make the sun shine every day. Our resident knitter, Georgie, is always seen with a pair of knitting needles and wool. Georgie knits a variety of items including scarfs, hats, bow ties for dogs and much more. Since September Georgie has been knitting Poppies to sell in aid of the Royal British legion Poppy appeal and has been selling her knitted poppies to family, friends and the local community with the help of Jempsons who kindly let her sell poppies in their Battle store. Georgie said “I will be sending a card to Jempson’s to say thank you. They always treat me wonderfully and the people of battle are so generous, even in these tough times”. We are so proud of Georgie, as she has raised £500.96 for the British Legion.
Georgie is now starting to knit for her next fund-raising efforts “My new project is knitting Paddington bear for St Michaels Hospice. I will do this now until Christmas and sell as many as I can to raise money for such a good cause”.

Today we continued to celebrate the success of our wonderful colleagues Tracie, Caroline and Victoria. Tracie won Ancillary Worker of the year, Victoria scooped Care Worker of the year and Caroline was highly commended for the Hidden Gem award. We are so proud of them, they truly are stars!

Earlier this year we celebrated PRIDE with a drag queen as requested by residents to try new entertainments and was a very enjoyable performance for all. At our last residents meeting they suggested a stripper who we welcomed on Thursday afternoon. All enjoyed the performance which was combined with a 'Good luck' party as we wished Sigita a fond farewell, the Saxonwood way!!
