For many people thinking about switching to an electric vehicle, the lack of off-street parking makes home charging difficult or even impossible.

That could soon change. The Guardian reports that the UK government is set to introduce legislation this summer allowing drivers to run charging cables through specially designed pavement “gullies” outside their homes, without needing planning permission.

Motability has responded to concerns about the Drive Smart tracker.

They say there are no curfews, no restrictions on when you can drive, and no plans to roll it out to all customers.

⚠️ Motability Drive Smart is causing serious concern among customers.

It’s a new tracker system that uses an app and in-car device to monitor how people drive and give them a weekly score.

Hundreds of users have taken to app stores and social media to report issues with inaccurate scores, wrongly recorded journeys and intrusive tracking.

One user said the app was “so inaccurate it’s almost making my driving dangerous”. Another said they’d “had computer viruses that are less intrusive”.
