Exhausted? Tense? Wired and tired? Nervous system shot? Need to slow life down?

My new Monday (alternate) Yin class might be just the ticket!

After trialling the venue a couple of times, I can safely say it’s the most perfect cosy room for Yin.

6.15pm alternate Monday’s in Beaconsfield - first class is free!

At some point in the hopefully not too distant future once I’ve finally managed to get my online system up and running (labour of love 😖), this will also be available via zoom!

Hope to see you there x

Day 8 on the bike - now at Thung Wua Laen beach.

1. Best black coffee yet. At Room9 accomodation. I can’t tell you how much I enjoy a quiet coffee first thing, with my face being warmed by the morning sun, and birdsong all around. Good start to the day for sure.
2. A very healthy jackfruit tree - apparently its fruits can be up to 40kg! It’s used as a meat substitute when it’s not yet ripe.
3. The hills have begun!
4. Thai boat style is like no other - love them
5. Croissant debrief
6. & 7, Tried to take a short cut around the paddy fields - also because we love cycling by the sea and these fields were sea-side!
8. Path ended because of a river so we had to go down to the sea, and then lift the bikes back up the other side - bit of grunting went on - paid tribute and thanks to the spinach we ate the day before 🤣 and up we got!
9. Heartwarming puppy story!
10. The beach! Before the rain came!
11. Nana resort pool - finally found a nice place to stay!
12. We appear to have, without really realising, increased from three meals a day to about 7 🤣. Was hoping to come back brown and stick thin, but hopes of so are fading 😜 (only messing. sort of!)

Onwards to Chumpon ferry tomorrow for a boat to Koh Phangan (probably) - we keep changing our mind every day about where to head next!

Day 7 on the bike - 75km - our biggest day on record!

1. Morning check in - up, out and breakfasted by 8.30am!
2. More empty costal roads - wind is up and it’s feeling a bit stormy!
3. First stop - another excellent Japanese run coffee shop (that Thais only do instant crap!) and the Japanese places always have oat milk so we navigate by them!
4. First stop is usually an iced latte!
5. Flying today!
6. Second (of 4) leg debrief. Smashing it! Going double the speed of pre rest day cycling! Howwww!
6. 7. And 8. &9, Second stop - another Japanese run place - we don’t do Thai food pre midday so pizza (or was it?) it was!
10. More lovely coconut grove back roads - rarely see a car - usually fend off about 10 dogs!
11. Wasn’t feeling our music choice 🐮
12. Hills and rain!!!!!! Nooo
13. Lunch time committee (stop 3) - we decided to continue on as the town was weird, eerie, felt like it had been hit by a tsunami in recent years! And the omelette was rank. Found a cute room called Room9 in goodness knows where! Somewhere north of Chumpong now! Did 78km in the end - not sure if we’re gonna be able to move tomorrow - future problem! High on life!

NEW YEARS DAY (day 5 on the bike) & the 2nd ( a rest day )
Wanakon Beach to Baan Groot/Krut

1. 2 and 3 - didn’t sleep too well in the tents so was awake to catch this gorgeous New Year’s Day sunrise!
4. Another random breakfast! No complaints
5. & 6. Excellent roads again - honestly - so quiet, and the surfaces are unreal compared to pot-holey UK
7. Soooo many coconut groves today - makes for very pretty riding
8. There is “salted fish” on the menu everywhere - we think they are drying this fish here
9. & 10. New digs! Loved it so much we decided to stay another night and have a rest day tomorrow! We are close to a place called Baan Krut/Grood - quite a lively beach resort. One of the better ones we’ve cycled through.
11. Spiciest food ever - we wanted to cry - but laughed instead - it burned my sunburnt lips sooo badly! The further south we are going, the spicier it’s getting!
12. Running the dog gauntlet armed with weapons
13. A delightful rest day coffee spot on one of the most peaceful coconut grove road- at The Leaf
14. So many gheckos!
15. Rest day musings! Obviously we could easily do 100km if we tried!

Spent our rest day with a slow breakkie, morning yoga with Kassandra, some beach time, and plotting our next days route / plan! Spirits are high and we are ready to roll again! Big day (for us) tomorrow - aiming for 66km as accomodation options are better around that distance!

Day 4 on the bike - one of those days where you can be at an all time low and then back on a high a few hours later. This too shall pass!

1. Questionable start to the day - chose this accomodation because breakfast was included!
2. & 3. Things looked up - was a beautiful morning, great roads winding through the jungle
4. Real non touristy Thailand now.
5. 6. 7 & 8. Tried to follow the walking route to avoid some main roads - major error. Clambered our way through dense woodland/jungle. Ended up deciding to follow a path along the side of the railway, until….
9. 10. 11 12. Said path abruptly ended. And we needed to cross a river…videos tell all.
13. Long story short - we crossed the river on the hairy bridge - but the path by the railway didn’t continue. So we had to push the bikes along the railway until there was an opening we could leave from. It was hot. Tiring. There was silence. But we were not turning back. It took us about 5 hours to get 20km this day, but then the universe delivered a beautiful national park! So we sacked off our booked accommodation (another 40km) and enjoyed the rest of the day here!
14. 60 baht camping packed lunches. Cute.
15 and onwards! Balun and her 4.9 star on Google maps Michelin star restaurant!

Watched fireworks for new years celebrations with beer smuggled from Balun. What a babe! What a day!

DAY 3 on the bike - somewhere south of Bangkok!

Great day on the bike! Spirits high, tunes were tuning, legs were turning, sun was shining, roads are unreal - some cost, some residential jungle back roads - all a delight!

1. Sunrise (Bex sent me this, I pretended I was there 🤣 - I need more sleep than Bex!)
2. Said goodbye to our two new pals even if one did destroy my flip flop
3. Morning brief at 0.25 mile - Bex’s legs 8/10, mind 10/10
4. 1/2 mile down the road - Puppy stop (and wonder why it’s taking us the whole day to do 50km 🤣)
5. Second brief at 1 mile - after hearing Bex moaning a bit - legs have declined rapidly to a concerning 3/10.
6. Another day, another water crossing
7. 8 and 9. The only place nearby when we got t0 20km (which is our first stop point usually) was a bungee hotel - most expensive mango smoothie ever even by uk standards. So we stayed for an hour to get our money’s worth enjoying the view on stripey bean bags!
10. New digs - we do like a pool so try to find accomodation with one. Pool was ok. Room was huge but like a prison cell - bit weird, oh well! £20 for the room.
11. Poolside recovery taken seriously!

Decided we are great cyclo tourers and a great team and spent the day working out how we can take a year off to go around the world!

Day 1 and 2 on the bike - finally!

DAY 1
1. Bikes finally all set to go!
2. Fish milk? No thanks! We are not feeling Thai breakfasts!
3. & 4. Hua Hin beach mango smoothies
4. First day on the bike - a bit tough going! A combo of jet lag and bad sleep since arrival and also wishing I’d ridden my bike since our last tour in Sept 😖 🥵
5. New digs - we have to find somewhere roughly en route and at about the right mileage! Harder than you think! This one had the most random pool linking the rooms on each side. £8 per night for the room.
6. Recovery - legs in pool, crisps and beer
7. Fish meal riverside and a new friend 🐶
8. Riverside sunset

DAY2
9. Navigated to a fancy japanese run place for breakkie. We love Thai food. But pork soup for breakfast is a stretch. Was an avocado and oat milk latte kinda place! Sometimes you need a few home comforts!
10. Tunes on, coast road all the way, roads are amazing, cycle path the whole way, drivers are respectful. All far better than the uk so far!
11. & 12. Stopped in a tiny fishing village for lunch - delightful! Curried crab was a winner.
13. When you try to take a short cut to the accomodation cos you’re knackered - but it’s via the sea!
14. New digs (v nice but a tad pricey 1700 baht)
15. New mates dog 🐶
16. New mates 👯
17. Doggo 1. Flip flop nil

Jet lag finally passing - sleeping better - legs have remembered how to pedal - finished the day high on life - bought far too much crap with me!

Day 3/4

After getting a bus 3 hours south of Bangkok (not as mental as Mumbai but sooooo much bigger) which took us to Hua Hin (3 hours south), day 3 and 4 consisted of mostly getting to and from Mo’s bike shop! The first time for some bolts and back again the next day for a buggered cable! Videos tell all. We love you Mo!

Seriously impressed by his daughter too. While he worked on my bike, she fixed another 5 or so that arrived at the shop during. She must have been 14 max. Bex and I decided we needed a bike maintenance course!

We are now day 5 in Thailand and we r have still not peddled 1 mile 🤣

Accomodation deffo cheaper than Bangkok but pickings are slim (? because we generally book on the day and it’s Xmas/new year time?) - we also need/prefer either two rooms or a room with two beds and space for the bikes!

Cold fried eggs and pad thai on offer for breakkie - could be worse I guess! 🤢
