Dear Friends,

With less than a week to go, I’d like to gently remind you of the upcoming online session:
Who do I think I am? – Finding Calm in a World of Chaos (Part 2)

In our daily lives, it’s easy to become caught up in roles, responsibilities and expectations. Yet behind all of this, a quieter question remains:
Who am I, really?

In this session, we will take some time to explore that question together, not just through reflection, but through a simple meditation practice that can help bring a sense of calm, clarity and steadiness.
If you’ve registered already, great!

If you’ve been thinking about joining, you are very welcome.
You can reserve your free place here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/who-do-i-think-i-am-finding-calm-in-a-world-of-chaos-online-meditation-pt2-tickets-1984558091675

Date and Time: Tuesday 24 March | 7 – 8 pm GMT
Location: Online via Zoom
During the session:
• A short talk on identity and inner awareness
• A guided meditation practice
• Open discussion and Q&A
No experience is needed. You are welcome whether you are new to meditation or have been practicing for some time.
If you feel it may be helpful, you are also very welcome to share this invitation with a friend or colleague.
I look forward to spending this time together.

Best wishes,
Dada Jyotirupananda

P.S. Sometimes taking just a short time to pause and reflect can make a meaningful difference to how we experience the rest of our week.

Join yogic monk & meditation teacher Dada Jyotirupananda in a session designed to help you explore who we really are & how meditation helps.

A big THANKS to all of my yogis who stuck with me over the past 6.5 weeks while my broken leg healed! You're all so wonderful and I cannot thank you enough for continuing to have faith in my abilities as a teacher - albeit one sitting in a chair! 😁

I am now almost back in the saddle and have some spaces available at various classes. Please DM me if you are interested in attending or if you have any queries. 🥰

Five weeks ago I broke my leg. And no, I didn't break it demonstrating a yoga pose!

Keeping this short and sweet (you all know who you are), I want to thank those who stepped up to make Mark's and my life a lot easier over the past few weeks...

A wonderful yogi and friend has cooked us endless vegetarian meals and stocked up our freezer. She is really the star of the show for us! Without her we would have descended into the world of frozen pizzas and oven chips. And we all know what we put in our body is the greatest help in healing. Many friends and yogis walked our dogs, fetched wood, helped with lifts, gave me treatments to help the healing, etc.

I decided to continue to teach, returning to the studio 4 days after the accident. This was not only to keep the classes going and to not abandon the AMAZING, talented yogis that I see every week, but to also keep my mental health in check. I've yet to succumb to daytime TV or sleeping! Teaching in a chair with my leg elevated has been exactly the right medicine for me, mentally and physically. It hasn't come without challenges, but everyone attending my classes has been kind, considerate, and patient, enabling me get off the sofa and do what I enjoy doing so much (but without the postures!). A special thanks goes out to the two people who joined my classes for the first time AFTER I broke my leg! I salute your bravery and thank you for your patience.

Mark and I have both felt we are surrounded by wonderful people and great energy. Even though I sit and mope on occasion and curse my predicament, I honestly couldn't have asked for better people to be around me. So a big BIG thank you to everyone, for everything you have done to help me through this; whether that be chores or favours, or just continuing to come along to classes. Without all of you this slow journey to recover would have been much more tedious and tearful for me.

Thank you. ###

Don't let those new year resolutions slip away!

When we practise yoga, we set or recall our resolutions, or as we call them, 'sankalpas', before the start of every session. Sankalpas are our own personal and positive intentions which we empower by focusing on them regularly, particularly when we are being mindful. By doing this we are more likely to bring these intentions to fruition. They aren't about money or power, but rather about helping us to bring about our better selves and a better world. Improvements all round start from within!

If you would like to take part in one of our weekly practices and be amongst some really amazing people, or you are just curious to see what is available to help you with your resolutions, please contact me.
No yoga or meditation experience needed. Just an open mind!

My teacher, Zen Master Daizan.

There's nothing more I can add to this other than to say I'm pleased we yogis in the Highlands haven't, to my knowledge, been impacted (yet) by what he describes. That's the beauty of being 'behind the times' up here when it comes to trends and fashion. But we inevitably catchup, so let's try to keep it real!

Enjoy his 7 minutes of words and wisdom.

Happy New Year!

Thanks so much to all of the yogis that attend my classes and enable me to earn a living out of doing something I love so much. But most importantly, thanks for allowing me to spend time with each and every one of you every week. You all mean so much to me and are a massive part of my life. Thank you for being a part of it and for being there.

Those of you who know me well will know I am not the sort to post proverbs or insightful sayings. But today, allow me just this once to stray from my normal and impart some advice, ad lib.

With the new year comes the resolutions, the affirmations, the new 'attitude' to life, the hobbies, books to read, places to travel, the catch-ups with long lost friends and relatives, the new groups to join and old ones to quit, diets, exercise regimes, etc, etc! The end of the year brings about in us a desire to rest, recover, and take that next year a bit 'easier', but we often set ourselves up to crash because we implement too many changes too quickly.

2026 isn't a 'clean slate' to be filled with new duties and demands. And it certainly isn't going to magic away all the stuff in our lives we would like to clear out to make way for new and more exciting or interesting things. We all know, life is what we make it, but sometimes we can't see the wood for the trees because we don't know how to step back from the busy. Modern life has demanded we always be busy and it's a habit hard to break. We can get lost longing for a future we aren't sure how to create, fretting about the unknown, and feeling regretful about the past. As the Buddha said, 'We can be peaceful, happy and free in this moment'. What the Buddha was describing is 'mindfulness'; being present and aware.

Through the practices of yoga and meditation the ability to be mindful starts to become natural and a part of everyday life. Anxiety lessens and a feeling of contentment can become the new normal. What the body needs in the form of movement, nourishment, and general care becomes innate knowledge. I like to believe many of my yogis and mindfulness & meditation practitioners have found this to be true. I hope that others who haven't yet discovered that inner peace, which allows us to flourish and enjoy life in the present, may add to their 2026 list of plans and aspirations an activity which will help them become more mindful.

Have a wonderful 2026 and enjoy every moment, for you are only truly alive in the present.

Hi everyone!
A very rare Monday morning space has become available at my Kinerras studio for 2026.

If you are interested in trying the class, or any of the other classes, please contact me by DM or WhatsApp 07773 098658.

My Yang yoga classes are suitable for anyone who is ready to stretch, breathe, and strengthen their body. If you have never tried yoga before, that is fine! Let me show you something new and beneficial to incorporate into your life. If you are a super-experienced yogi, that is great! You can teach me new things - I love to learn!

My chair yoga class is currently full, but I can put your name on the waiting list.

I plan to run my Meditation & Yin class twice monthly. At this class you will experience a guided meditation and an hour of Yin yoga. For those unfamiliar with Yin, it is all about the stretch, the breath, restoring the mind and body, and relaxing. There's nothing strenuous, nothing complicated. Just you, on the mat, letting your body move deeply into poses that release the fascia, open up the joints, and detox the muscles. A perfect way to let the stresses of life out of your system.

My classes are very open, friendly, diverse, and I offer something accessible to most desires and abilities.

Have a fantastic Christmas and New Year.
