🔑 How to Set Slimming World Goals

1. Make Them SMART
A good goal is:
• Specific – “I want to lose 1 stone” not “I want to lose some weight.”
• Measurable – You can track it (on the scales, with clothes, or photos).
• Achievable – Something realistic, like 1–2 lbs a week.
• Relevant – It matters to you (health, confidence, energy, clothes fitting).
• Time-bound – Add a target date (e.g., “by Christmas”).



2. Set Different Types of Goals
You can mix short-term and long-term goals:
• Outcome goals (big picture): “Lose 3 stone by my holiday next summer.”
• Behaviour goals (daily habits): “Fill half my plate with speed food at dinner.”
• Non-scale victories (NSVs): “Climb stairs without getting out of breath,” “Wear my favourite jeans.”



3. Break Big Goals into Small Milestones
Instead of aiming for your total target weight straight away, celebrate mini-goals:
• First ½ stone
• Each 7 lbs
• Dropping a clothes size
• Losing 5% or 10% of your starting weight



4. Write Them Down & Track Progress
Seeing your goals written down helps you stay accountable.
• Use your Slimming World book/app
• Keep a notebook or journal
• Tick off achievements and reward yourself (non-food treats like new clothes, nail polish, a day out).



5. Focus on Positives, Not Perfection
Even if you have a gain one week, your goal is to keep going — not give up.
Progress, not perfection, gets results.

Remember that sometimes when you feel you've been really bad, bad is never as bad now as it was before we joined our Mayer Hall, Bebington group! We are just more aware. We think more about what we eat and we know what is absolutely fabulous for us!

But if things have slowed or stopped. If you're feeling a bit frustrated with a lack of progress lately, we can look at what's changed. Things slip off our once perfect intentions so let's look at what they might be and we can endeavour to straighten our halo once again.
🤔 💭

🌟 Speed foods! Is your plate filled with 1/3 or more - yes more! 1/3 is the minimum we recommend but more boosts our losses. It's often what slips off when we're busy or get complacent and has such an impact. Mistaking non-speed foods for speed foods is easily done too (beans, peas, sweetcorn, banana 🍌 , cherries🍒 , kiwi 🥝 pineapple🍍 - they can all convince us they are speedy!)

🌟 Measuring healthy extras - I bet we've all guess-timated at times! Thing is, just having an extra slice of bread 🍞 a day could add 35 syns to our week. Same with milk, an extra 80ml a day adds 15 syns to our week.
🌟 Not checking syns before we eat something or deliberately saying I'm not counting syns on a night out, could easily double our syn intake. Syns for alcohol not being counted is a common one - and can totally halt a weightloss journey.
🌟 And having a 'treat day' after weigh in where no syns are counted could see us use all our syns and more in that one day. It's not part of our plan as it can lead to a binge and deprive cycle forming - and ultimately no weightloss.
🌟 Forgetting just how liberating and enjoyable 100% on-plan meals can be and slipping into syn-laden ready meals or takeaways.

Pick your star, the one (or more!) that's caused your halo to go crooked, and straighten it up! It's in your hands!

This journey can be emotional — weigh-ins, off-plan days, and the pressure we put on ourselves can feel overwhelming sometimes. Having someone who listens, nods, and says, ‘I get it — you’re doing amazing,’ can make all the difference.

Why should I try again??........... The fact is that very few of us end up in a place where either our mental or physical health is not affected by our weight so we got to keep trying.

Not because we will win every attempt but because there is still a dream within us to be able to shout from the roof tops 'I DONE IT!' 🙌🙌

Every week I am surrounded by men and ladies in our Slimming World Mayer Hall Groups who can say that with bells on and the vast majority got to their dream weight after multiple attempts, most won't mind me saying that it wasn't the motorway route to target but more that they kept trying until it happened.

So never worry if it is your first or your millionth attempt - if losing weight would enhance your future in any way, shape or form then KEEP TRYING ;-)

Instead of one day then make today day one ❤️

Crispy chilli beef.... OMG delicious!!!!

Ingredients:

For the Crispy Beef:
350g lean beef frying steak, visible fat removed, cut into thin strips
2 tbsp cornflour
1 tsp Chinese five-spice powder
For the Stir-Fry:
4 tbsp brown sauce
3 tbsp dark soy sauce
2 tbsp rice vinegar
4 garlic cloves, crushed
1 tbsp grated ginger
3 tbsp sugar-free orange squash diluted with 400ml water
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
2 tbsp tomato puree
½ tsp dried red chilli flakes
1 crumbled beef stock cube
2 onions, thickly sliced
2 red peppers, deseeded and sliced
200g carrots, julienned
150g sugar snap peas, trimmed
250g dried medium egg noodles
Chopped fresh red chilli (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

Marinate the Beef: In a bowl, toss the beef strips with the cornflour and five-spice powder. Set aside to marinate for at least 15 minutes (longer for extra crispiness).
Cook the Noodles: Cook the egg noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
Prepare the Stir-Fry Sauce: In a jug, whisk together the brown sauce, dark soy sauce, rice vinegar, sugar-free orange squash mixture, Worcestershire sauce, tomato puree, beef stock cube, and red chilli flakes (adjust for desired spice level).
Cook the Crispy Beef: Heat a large non-stick frying pan or wok with a spray of low-calorie cooking spray. Fry the marinated beef in batches until golden brown and crispy. Set aside on a plate lined with kitchen paper to drain excess oil.
Stir-Fry the Vegetables: In the same pan, add a little more spray oil if needed. Stir-fry the onions, peppers, and carrots for 5-7 minutes, or until softened.
Add the Sauce and Noodles: Pour in the prepared stir-fry sauce and simmer for a minute or two. Add the cooked egg noodles and sugar snap peas, tossing everything together to coat.
Serve and Enjoy: Return the crispy beef to the pan and heat through for a minute. Serve immediately with chopped fresh red chilli (optional) for garnish.
